Zhangjiajie College of Jishou University was established in September 2002 with the approval of the Hunan Provincial People's Government. It is organized by Jishou University, a comprehensive university in Hunan Province, and is an independent college confirmed by the Ministry of Education. It is being transformed into an independent general undergraduate college. The college is located in Zhangjiajie, a famous international tourist city, covering an area of 738 acres. There are 8404 full-time undergraduate students, 45 undergraduate majors and 475 full-time teachers.
The college has advanced infrastructure and complete school conditions. It has a modern teaching building, an experimental training center; an elegant environment of 19,000 square meters library, rich collections, and central air-conditioning; the college has complete living facilities, including 17 "garden-style" student apartments, standardized canteens, and financial self-service Terminals, hospitals, supermarkets, etc., optical fiber network coverage is free.
In order to improve the quality of the school, the college demonstrates the characteristics of famous schools, and cultivates "general knowledge, solid professional foundation, and strong practical innovation ability" for the local economic and social development, and has achieved remarkable results in running schools. The college teachers published 46 textbooks and monographs (departments), won 55 provincial and above awards such as classroom teaching competitions and informatization teaching competitions for ordinary colleges and universities, and presided over 118 national and provincial scientific research and teaching reform projects. The college attaches great importance to the construction of campus culture. It has built iconic cultural venues such as Wulingfeng Art Museum, which has built a platform for educating people by environment; it has cultivated ten major campus cultural activities such as "Science Campus" and enriched the campus cultural life of teachers and students; Educational tutorial system to build a warm and noble modern teacher-student relationship; regular "Tianwen Forum•General Knowledge Lectures", invite well-known scholars at home and abroad to give lectures at the college, and create a strong academic atmosphere; hold a series of international and domestic cultural and artistic exchanges Activities, inviting famous domestic and foreign artists to come to the college to create, perform, and give lectures to create a regional cultural highland.
The college actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation, and has established inter-school cooperative relations with 13 universities in South Korea, the United States, Italy, Australia, Japan, Canada and other countries. In 2019, the Zhangjiajie Philharmonic Orchestra entered the college and is managed by the construction of the college. The orchestra has a total of 43 foreign performers, adding new strength to the college's talent training and social services.
