Changsha Civil Affairs Vocational and Technical College was founded by the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 1984. It is now a general college directly under the Hunan Provincial Department of Education jointly established by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government and the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The school is the first batch of (28) national exemplary higher vocational colleges in the country. The school has 9 secondary colleges, general education centers, and ideological and political theory, including the School of Civil Affairs and Social Work, School of Business, School of Electronic Information Engineering, School of Software, School of Art, School of Medicine, School of Funeral Services, School of Foreign Languages, School of Finance and Management. There are three teaching departments: the teaching department and the sports department. The school recruits students from all over the country, and currently has more than 18,000 full-time students. There are 1 national-level teaching teacher, 3 provincial-level teaching teachers, 5 provincial-level professional leaders and 28 provincial-level young backbone teachers in ordinary colleges and universities. All middle-aged and young teachers have master degrees; 184 teachers have Foreign and overseas study experience such as Ferris State University in the United States, NIIT University in India, Tokyo University of Welfare in Japan, and Taiwan Hiking University of Science and Technology. The campus covers an area of 1084 acres, with a building area of 450,000 square meters, and the total value of teaching equipment is more than 99 million yuan. The modern basketball stadium with 15,300 square meters and 8,000 seats successfully hosted the 28th Asian Men's Basketball Championship, the National Gymnastics Championship, and the 10th Hunan Universiade. The school actively innovated the talent training model of "integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and integration of work and study", implemented the credit system, promoted small-class teaching, and carried out order training and modern apprenticeship trials. The school has established close cooperative education relations with well-known enterprises in the civil affairs industry, ZTE, Galanz, Bosch, Kingdee Software, China Southern Airlines, and Debon Logistics.
In 2010, the school took the lead in building an "online learning space for everyone" in the country, and explored the creation of the "online learning space for everyone" construction model, which has now become an important part of the national education informatization "three links project", construction experience Promote to the whole province and the whole country. At present, teachers have accumulated 800,000 space teaching resources and nearly 200 million exchange visits between teachers and students. The school teachers have won 9 national teaching achievement awards, 36 provincial teaching achievement awards; 5 first prizes in the national informatization teaching competition, and 14 first prizes in the provincial informatization teaching design competition. In the past five years, students have won more than 190 first prizes in skill competitions and teaching competitions above the provincial level, including 15 first prizes at the national level.
In January 2017, the Chinese Science Evaluation and Research Center of Wuhan University, the China Education Quality Evaluation Center and the China Science and Education Evaluation Network jointly released the 2017 China Higher Vocational College Competitiveness Rankings. The school ranked 9th and Hunan Province 1st. The admission score has been ranked first in the province for 9 consecutive years, exceeding the admission score of three books.
