Hunan Medical College

Hunan Medical College is a state-run full-time undergraduate general medical college. It was founded in 1924 in Changsha (Benshu Nursing School), approved by the Ministry of Education in 2014, upgraded from the original Huaihua Medical College and renamed Hunan Medical College.


The school is located in Huaihua City, Hunan Province, which is known as "Great Southwest Bridgehead, Original Ecological Botanical Garden, Ancient Architecture Museum, Multi-ethnic Cultural Village, Birthplace of Hybrid Rice, and Land of Victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan". Huaihua has very convenient transportation. It is a national comprehensive transportation hub city, a central city and a node city in the Wulingshan Economic Cooperation Zone. Since ancient times, it has been known as the "gateway to Guizhou and Yunnan" and "the throat of the whole Chu".


The school currently covers an area of 1,418 acres, with a total school building area of 265,000 square meters. The existing teaching and research equipment is worth 85.65 million yuan. The library has 786,500 paper books and more than 1.66 million e-books. The school recruits students from 27 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country. There are 11,227 full-time college students, including 9833 undergraduates.
