Hunan University of Science and Technology started as the Xiangbei Construction College on the eve of liberation. It was formed by the merger of Xiangtan Institute of Technology and Xiangtan Normal University in 2003. The school has 2,541 faculty members, including 1,610 full-time teachers, 327 full-time teachers, and 1,020 doctoral teachers.
