Jianghan Vocational College of Art is a public full-time general higher education school approved by the Hubei Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education in 2004. Its predecessor was Qianjiang Art Normal School of Hubei Province, founded in 1959. The college is located in Qianjiang City, Hubei Province, known as the "Hometown of Cao Yu, Jianghan Oil City, Water Village Gardens, and Hometown of Lobsters". It covers an area of 507 mu (338,000 square meters), with a school building area of 187,000 square meters and a collection of 50 Million copies.
The college has 8 teaching departments: School of Music, School of Design, School of Preschool Education, School of Management, School of Performing Arts, School of Food Culture, School of Continuing Education, and Technical Secondary School, with 7800 students. The college has 390 faculty members, 2 doctors, 92 masters, 86 professors and associate professors, and 40 part-time teachers served by well-known artists and education experts.
The college takes "establishing a humanist concept, insisting on employment orientation, highlighting artistic characteristics, and achieving scientific development" as its school-running philosophy, adapting to the needs of the industry and local economic and social development, giving full play to its traditional advantages, and following the principle of "lifestyle art, professional art" The idea is to open 24 majors in music, dance, design, education, management, computer technology, etc., of which preschool education and music performance are the brand majors of higher vocational education in Hubei Province, animation design and production, and dance performance are the characteristics of higher vocational education in Hubei Province Professional. The college has achieved remarkable results in education and teaching. It has represented Hubei Province in the National College Student Art Festival and the National Vocational College Skills Competition for many times, and has won many first, second and third prizes. In 2017, in the National Vocational College Skills Competition, dance student Fu Jingang won the first prize in the dance performance competition, music performance student Lei Zhouzhen won the third prize in the piano performance competition, and teacher Zhang Mengmeng won the excellent instructor award. In the Hubei Vocational College Skills Competition, animation design student Yang Cong won the first prize (first place), Lei Huan and Xu Yujie won the second and third prizes respectively, and Mr. Xie Peijun won the title of excellent instructor; preschool education Professional students Deng Xuetong and Gong Yanping won the first and third prizes respectively.
