The Three Gorges Tourism Vocational and Technical College was approved by the provincial government in February 2008 and was formed by merging the Hubei Three Gorges Science and Technology School on the basis of Yichang Education College. It is the only independent tourism college in the province sponsored by the Yichang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. In April 2009, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a full-time comprehensive general higher vocational college.
College is located in Yichang Vocational Education Park, No. 205, Hanyi Avenue, High-tech Zone, Yichang City, near Yichang East Railway Station and Yichang Passenger Transport Center. It is the core area of Yichang Chengdong New District. It covers an area of 323,300 square meters, the school building area is 121,300 square meters, the value of teaching and research equipment is 26,379,700 yuan, and the number of books is 215.1 thousand.
The college currently has nearly 4,000 students and 216 faculty members, including 75 professors and associate professors. Among the full-time faculty, 35% are postgraduates and 60% are "dual-qualified" teachers; education and teaching in vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education 2 members of the steering committee (special committee), 7 national-level vocational skills competition expert judges, 12 provincial-level; 2 national-level Putonghua testers, 15 provincial-level, 1 Hubei Province Skilled Master, Chutian Skilled Master 12 people, employing more than 50 outside experts, scholars, and skilled craftsmen as guest professors of the college.
The college focuses on the construction of tourism management professional group and preschool education professional group, supplemented by aviation service, business management, computer, gardening and other majors. It has opened 33 majors and professional directions, covering higher vocational education, All levels of adult education and secondary vocational education. Among them, tour guides and hotel management are the key majors of the central financial construction; tourism management is the brand of vocational education in Hubei Province; cooking technology and nutrition, tourism management, and hotel management are the second batch of national modern apprenticeship pilot majors in Yichang; preschool education is related to The China Vocational Education Society cooperates to build a major, a specialty of vocational education in Hubei Province; cooking technology and nutrition are the pilot majors of modern apprenticeship in Hubei Province. In 2017, the college was rated as an excellent college for national catering vocational education.
The college has advanced teaching facilities and equipment, has built a modern multimedia teaching system, campus network system, distance education system and network office system; it has built "four bases": college student innovation and entrepreneurship base, preschool education practice base, Yichang city tourism talent training Base, West Hubei African Material Cultural Heritage Inheritance Base; "Ten Centers" have been built: Tourism Management Training Center, Cooking Training Center, Hotel Management Training Center, Flight Training Center, Preschool Education Training Center, Modern Information Technology Training Center Center, Airport Industry Training Center, College Student Ideological and Political Education Training Center, College Student Mental Health Education and Guidance Center, Yichang Mandarin Training and Testing Center; there are more than 60 integrated training rooms for theory and practice, and the tourism management major is supported by the central government. The key training base for construction; there are nearly 100 off-campus training and employment bases, of which the Yangtze Three Gorges Tourism Development Co., Ltd. (Three Gorges Dam Tourism Area) is a provincial-level tourism management off-campus training base led by the college.
The college adheres to market demand as the orientation, skill improvement as the core, and skill competition as the starting point, and continuously deepens the reform of education and teaching, and continuously improves the quality of running schools. In the past five years, students have participated in 129 vocational skill competitions at or above the provincial level, and won 268 awards. More than 300 students have won awards, including 12 first prizes at the national level, 10 first prizes at the provincial level, and national level. There were 11 second prizes and 23 provincial second prizes, and it was the first to achieve a breakthrough in Yichang City's first prize in the National Vocational Skills Competition. "The Evaluation Results of Innovative Talent Cultivation and Subject Competition in Chinese Universities and Colleges (2013-2017)" was announced, among which the college ranked 9th in the province's higher vocational colleges from 2013 to 2016. Actively promote the integration of course certificates, the rate of obtaining "dual certificates" for graduates has reached more than 90%, and the employment rate of students has exceeded 92% for consecutive years. Graduates are generally well received by employers.
The college actively serves the local economic and social development, carrying out vocational training and technical guidance, Mandarin training and testing, and the establishment of a standardized tourism city in Yichang, which has made positive contributions to the local economic and social development. Yichang Mandarin Training and Testing Center, Minor Mental Health Counseling Station, Three Gorges Tea Culture Research Association, Psychological Society, and Three Gorges Tourism Research Institute are affiliated to our hospital. The college is also a kindergarten teacher training base, primary and middle school teacher qualification training and certification center, and vocational qualification training and appraisal center in Yichang City.
