Hubei Industrial Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time general higher education institution with coordinated development of manufacturing and service disciplines. The school has held higher education for more than 40 years. It is the earliest independent higher vocational college set up by the country and Hubei Province. It is also a national model (backbone) higher vocational college and a charming campus of vocational colleges across the country.
The school is located in the downtown area of Shiyan on the foot of the Wudang Mountains and on the banks of the Han River. As the "Truck Capital of China", Shiyan was built and prospered by vehicles. It is the birthplace and important production base of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, a national super-large enterprise. The World Cultural Heritage and Taoist Holy Land Wudang Mountain is well-known at home and abroad; the largest manpower in Asia Danjiangkou Reservoir, a freshwater lake, is the source of water transfer in the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and a river of clear water is sent from here to the capital, Beijing.
The school covers an area of nearly 1,000 acres, with more than 18,000 students and a building area of 250,000 square meters.
