Historical evolution: The school was established in 2004 and has gone through two development stages, Hubei Academy of Fine Arts College of Art and Design and Huazhong Agricultural University Chutian College. In 2015, it was renamed Wuhan Institute of Design and Engineering with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it was approved as an independent undergraduate. The enrollment of art colleges has developed into an undergraduate college that focuses on art and develops multi-disciplinary coordination and integration. The school consists of 7 colleges including Jackie Chan School of Film and Television Media, School of Environmental Design, School of Art and Design, School of Food and Biotechnology, School of Business, School of Information Engineering, and School of Nursing Asia. There are currently more than 8,600 students.

Educational conditions: The campus covers an area of 753.05 acres. The main campus is located on the banks of the beautiful Tangxun Lake. Faculty: The school’s faculty is of high quality and reasonable structure. There are 404 full-time teachers, of which 30.7% are teachers with associate senior titles or above, 75% are teachers with postgraduate or higher qualifications; 170 are external teachers and 104 are administrative staff. The school sets up chief professor posts for each major, grasps the direction of professional development, and is fully responsible for professional construction. The school implements a lecture professor system, introduces high-level talents from home and abroad "flexibly", invites Mr. Jackie Chan to be the dean of the school's Jackie Chan School of Film and Television Media, and hires a group of well-known social figures, experts and professors such as Feng Xiaogang, Zhang Guoli, Bao Manzhu Serve as a professional visiting professor. Subjects and majors: The school is guided by industry needs, absorbing the superior disciplines, characteristic majors and high-quality teaching resources of the century-old Huazhong Agricultural University and Hubei Academy of Fine Arts, opening 33 undergraduate majors and 6 junior college majors, forming a film and television media, art There are six major clusters of design, environmental design, food biology, economic management, and information technology. The majors cover 6 university disciplines including art, engineering, literature, economics, management, and agriculture. Employment and entrepreneurship: The school attaches great importance to the employment and entrepreneurship of students, and offers students career planning courses, employment guidance courses and other compulsory courses and optional innovation and entrepreneurship courses for students, organizes innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, SYB entrepreneurship training classes and entrepreneurship salon activities, and goes out every year to explore employment In the market, hold large-scale supply-demand meetings, art-specific job fairs, and enterprise-specific job fairs.
