Hankou College is a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive private general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school was founded in 2000, and its predecessor was the Hankou branch of Huazhong Normal University. In 2011, the Hubei Provincial People's Government declared and approved by the Ministry of Education, it was transferred and renamed Hankou College. It was one of the first 17 universities in the country to be converted from an independent college to an ordinary private undergraduate college. Approved by the Provincial Department of Education in 2014, it became the first to enter the second-level enrollment college among 32 similar colleges in the province, and it was also one of the first batch of private colleges and universities in Hubei Province that jointly recruited and cultivated postgraduates.
