The College of Science and Technology of China Three Gorges University is an independent college with the status of an independent business legal person and is organized by the Three Gorges University and Yichang Education Industrial Development Corporation, approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and approved by the Department of Education of Hubei Province. Its predecessor was the Yichang Branch of China Three Gorges University established in September 2000; in August 2002, it was renamed as the College of Science and Technology of China Three Gorges University with the approval of the Provincial Department of Education; in February 2004, it was re-identified as a university that implements higher education with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The college is located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, the location of the Three Gorges Project, the world's hydropower capital, and a famous tourist city in China. It shares the good atmosphere and high-quality educational resources of China Three Gorges University on the same campus as China Three Gorges University. The college campus covers an area of 825 acres, with 39 undergraduate majors and 11 junior majors. The disciplines cover 7 disciplines including engineering, liberal arts, management, economics, law, medicine, and art, as well as ethnic minority preparatory classes and ethnic classes. The college currently has 583 faculty members, including 462 full-time teachers (330 shared university teachers) and 228 off-campus teachers. Among the full-time teachers, the proportion of teachers with a master's degree or above is 71.65%; the proportion of teachers with a senior professional title or above is 33.5%.
