Hubei Medical College is a general higher education institution focusing on medicine and coordinated development of medicine, science, engineering, management and other disciplines. It is the only independent general higher medical institution of western medicine in the adjacent areas of Hubei, Henan, Chongqing and Shaanxi. The school is located in the center of Shiyan, Hubei Province, one of the “Top Ten Charming Cities in the Country”. The school occupies an area of 574 acres, and currently there are nearly 17,000 full-time general undergraduate and graduate students (including independent colleges) and nearly 500 international students.
The school was established in 1965, formerly known as the Yunyang Branch of Wuhan Medical College. It began general undergraduate education in 1977, and was renamed Tongji Medical University Yunyang Medical College in 1986. In 1994, it was established independently and named Yunyang Medical College. In 1995, it began joint master's training.
