Hubei is the hometown of famous medical scientist Li Shizhen. Founded in 1958, Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the only higher undergraduate college of Chinese medicine in Hubei Province. Its predecessor was the Hubei Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Training School established in 1954. In 2003, the former Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine merged with the former Hubei Medical Inspection College to form the new Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was renamed Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in March 2010. The school is the earliest institution of higher learning in my country to provide undergraduate education in traditional Chinese medicine and the earliest graduate education in traditional Chinese medicine. The Ministry of Education is an excellent school for undergraduate teaching level qualification evaluation. It is the first provincial university in Hubei Province that has the right to confer doctoral degrees in first-level disciplines.
