Wuhan University of Science and Technology is a local high-level university jointly established by the provinces and ministries. It is a national "Middle and Western University Basic Ability Construction Project" and a "Double First Class" construction university in Hubei Province. The school’s history can be traced back to the technology school established by the Governor of Huguang in the late Qing Dynasty, Zhang Zhidong, who requested the Qing government to approve the establishment of the school. , Inheritance and development of Wuchang Iron and Steel Industry School, established as Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute in 1958, and started undergraduate education. In 1995, Wuhan University of Iron and Steel, Wuhan College of Architecture, Wuhan College of Metallurgy and Medicine under the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry merged to form Wuhan University of Metallurgical Science and Technology.
