The school has a long history of running a school and a profound cultural heritage. The history of the school can be traced back to the Puqi Simple Normal School founded in 1937 and the Xianning Branch of Hubei Medical College founded in 1965. After inheritance and evolution, in 2002, Xianning Medical College and Xianning Normal College merged to form Xianning College, which was renamed Hubei in 2012 University of Science and Technology. The school started higher education in 1965, undergraduate education in 1977, joint postgraduate education in 1995, and in 2011, it was approved as a professional degree postgraduate training unit for the "Service the National Special Needs Talent Training Project" to independently carry out postgraduate education.
