The predecessor of Xiaoxiang Technician College was Yongzhou Advanced Technical School. In March 2009, it was upgraded to Xiaoxiang Technician College with the approval of the Provincial People's Government. Hunan Jiuyi Vocational and Technical College developed and expanded on the basis of the original "Jiuyi Mountain College". In 1980, the former member of the National Academy of Sciences, the first president of Beijing Agricultural University, a famous agronomist, and educator Professor Le Tianyu returned to his hometown to establish it as the first private university after the founding of New China. The older generation of proletarian revolutionaries Xiao Ke, Wang Shoudao, Li Weihan, Zeng San, and famous scientists Qian Xuesen and Zhou Peiyuan served as directors of the college. In 1985, Comrade Hu Jintao, who was then the first secretary of the Communist Youth League Central Committee, wrote to the students, encouraging them to work hard and run the school diligently and thriftily. In March 2005, with the approval of the Provincial People's Government, the "Hunan Jiuyi Vocational and Technical College" was formally established, under the management of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, included in the sequence of ordinary higher education institutions, and enrolled for the national plan. In May 2010, with the approval of the Provincial People's Government, it was transferred from private to public, and merged with Xiaoxiang Technician College to run a school with two brands and one team. After the integration of the resources of the two institutes, academic education and skills training are integrated, and the dual certification system of "education certificate" and "vocational qualification certificate" is fully implemented. It is a higher vocational college with engineering subjects. At present, the college has four departments and two departments (Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Department of Automotive Engineering, Department of Fashion Art, Department of Management Engineering, Department of Public Courses, and Department of Ideological and Political Affairs). There are 268 faculty members, 47 professors and associate professors, and double-qualified. There are 142 teachers, 20 popular majors, including mechatronics, automobile inspection and maintenance, e-commerce, CNC mold, clothing design, interior design, etc., and more than 4,000 students. 2. The basic situation of the construction of the new campus of the college
The new campus project of the college covers an area of 300 acres, and the construction officially started in May 2014. The investment scale of the first phase is about 500 million yuan, with a total construction area of 160,000 square meters. Now it has built 4 teaching buildings, 2 training buildings, 1 library, 5 student dormitories, and 1 student canteen, which can accommodate more than 4,000 students to study and live, and build the first vocational college in Hunan Province. Smart campus. The college moved to the new campus on September 16, 2016.
3. The next development plan of the college
mainly achieves "two goals". First, in 2020, the number of students in the school will exceed 6,000, and two new student dormitories are planned to be built. The second is to strive to build a national demonstrative technician college. To this end, we will concentrate on building "Five One Projects", namely, first-class professions, first-class masters, first-class craftsmen, first-class management, and first-class campus.
