Henan Vocational College of Art is a comprehensive public higher art vocational college with distinctive characteristics and complete art categories approved by the provincial government and filed by the Ministry of Education. For the purpose of artistic practical talents engaged in artistic performance, creation, cultural business management, and film and television media work, it is currently the only provincial-level public art college in Henan Province.
The school has two campuses, located at No. 132 Zhengkai Avenue, Zhengzhou City and No. 79 Wenhua Road, Zhengzhou City, covering a total area of 549,800 square meters, teaching and administrative rooms covering an area of 277,500 square meters, and teaching and research equipment assets of 60.45 million Yuan, the library has 496,300 books. Multimedia classrooms, network laboratories, studios, lecture halls, gymnasiums, sports fields, piano rooms, exercise rooms, studios and other facilities are all available.
The school has a strong faculty, with 613 faculty members and 318 postgraduate degree teachers. In the teaching team, there are both famous art educators of the older generation and "dual-professional" teachers, as well as young and middle-aged teachers with innovative spirit.
The school has a complete set of majors, including 11 secondary colleges including music, fine arts, opera, dance, etc., and 2 teaching departments. There are more than 50 majors (including directions), and there are more than 11,000 full-time students. The School of Music is the inheritance base of Henan Province’s outstanding traditional culture "Henan Pendant". The construction of the high-level professional group of "Drama Film and Television Performance" in the School of Drama has been approved by the Education Department.
The school is an important position for higher art education in Henan Province. The famous Henan opera master and people’s artist Chang Xiangyu was once the principal of the school. Famous Henan opera performers Wang Hui, Liu Zhonghe, Wang Quanzhen, Meng Xiangli, Yang Shuaixue, famous film and television actors Ding Lan, Zhang Li, Li Guangjie, Jiang Xin, and famous singer Li Na have all studied in our school and have contributed to the prosperity of contemporary culture and art in their respective fields.
