Henan Vocational College of Industry and Trade is a provincial public higher vocational college. The college has a long history and profound cultural heritage. In 1950, the predecessor of the college, the Food Cadre Training Class of the Department of Finance of Henan Province, was established in Kaifeng, the capital of the province at that time. When the provincial capital moved to Zheng in 1953, the new school, which had been renamed as the Henan Provincial Grain Cadre School, also settled in No. 4 Yousheng North Road, Zhengzhou City. In 1965, the Henan Provincial Grain School was announced, and the Henan Provincial Grain Cadre School jointly assumed the task of training talents and cadres in the province's food industry. In 1997, the school was renamed Henan Economic and Trade School again. In 2004, with the approval of the People's Government of Henan Province, in 2005, with the record of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the Henan Vocational College of Industry and Trade was established on the basis of Henan Economic and Trade School, and the school entered the ranks of ordinary colleges and universities.
At present, the college is divided into two campuses, north and south, covering an area of 350,000 square meters and a total construction area of 210,000 square meters. There are 8 teaching departments and 35 majors (directions), including 1 provincial-level key major and 1 provincial-level characteristic major. There are 52 on-campus experimental training centers (rooms), including 1 national-level training base, 4 provincial-level demonstration training bases, and 54 off-campus practice bases. It has 8 competency test centers and training centers, including the National Salesperson Qualification Examination, the National Logistics Division Qualification Examination, and the National Computer Rank Examination. It has a national food industry-specific skill training center and a national vocational skill appraisal institute. The total value of fixed assets of the college is 20.09 million yuan, and the total value of teaching equipment is 41.3 million yuan. The college library has more than 500,000 books. The college has fully equipped apartment-style student dormitories, student and faculty canteens, standard sports fields, etc. Good conditions for running a school have laid a solid material foundation for the college to improve the quality of talent training.

The college currently has 412 faculty members, including 64 teachers with senior professional and technical positions, 72 teachers with a master’s degree or above, and 159 "dual-professional" teachers.
