The school is located in Anyang, the hometown of Oracle, the location of Yinxu, the spiritual birthplace of Hongqi Canal, a national historical and cultural city, and one of China's eight ancient capitals. The predecessor of the school was the School of Humanities and Management of Anyang Normal University, which was founded in April 2003. In October 2015, it successfully passed the acceptance of the expert group of the National Higher Education Establishment Evaluation Committee. It was officially inaugurated and renamed Anyang College in May 2016.
The school has "Eleven Colleges and Two Departments", namely, the School of Aeronautical Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Literature and Media, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Finance and Accounting, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Music, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Vocational Education, the School of Marxism, School of Continuing Education, Department of Physical Education and Department of Public Art Teaching. The school takes discipline construction as the leader, and always adheres to the discipline construction guiding ideology of "optimizing structure, highlighting key points, cross-convergence, and coordinated development". Now it has 40 undergraduate majors, 30 junior college majors, 4 counterpart undergraduate majors, and 10 counterparts Associate majors cover eight disciplines including literature, science, engineering, law, economics, management, education and art.
The school has always adhered to the central position of teaching work, with quality engineering construction as the main line, and in-depth education and teaching reforms. Five majors including accounting, Chinese international education, mathematics and applied mathematics, mechatronics engineering, and environmental design were selected as brand majors in private colleges and universities in Henan Province. The Mechatronics and Information Engineering Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center was selected as a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center; Mechatronics Engineering was rated as a key discipline in Henan Province; the basic computer application course was a provincial-level boutique online open course; the basic English teaching and research room was approved as excellent in Henan Province Grassroots teaching organization; Zhouyi Culture Big Data Cloud Platform Laboratory was approved as Anyang Key Laboratory; logistics management major was approved as a pilot project for comprehensive reform of higher education institutions in Henan Province. The school actively implements scientific research awards, has published more than 1,000 high-level academic papers, has undertaken more than 1,200 scientific research projects at all levels, won 96 scientific research achievement awards, published 110 monographs and textbooks, and obtained 5 patents.
