Shangqiu Institute of Technology is a private general undergraduate college established on the basis of the former Shangqiu Vocational College of Science and Technology approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2011. The school was founded in 1994. It now covers an area of 76.67 hectares, with a school building area of 322,100 square meters, 128 on-campus laboratories and training workshops, 138 off-campus practice and training bases, a library collection of 1,116,600 paper books, 947 Chinese and foreign periodicals, and another E-books 7985GB, 4 various e-book libraries and 3 databases.

The school was approved to establish a party committee in 2007.
