Pingdingshan College is a comprehensive full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the Henan Provincial People's Government. The school is located on the banks of Baigui Lake and Guoding Mountain in Xincheng District of Pingdingshan City, surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a beautiful natural environment and profound cultural heritage.
The predecessor of Pingdingshan College was Pingdingshan Normal School founded in October 1959. In August 1977, it was approved to set up a junior college in Pingdingshan Teachers College. It was changed to Pingdingshan Teachers College in 1984. In May 2004, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The school actively implements the deployment requirements of the state and Henan Province on the classified development of higher education, and further promotes the transformation and development. It is a master's degree granting project construction unit, a pilot university for transformation and development in Henan Province, and a demonstration applied technology type undergraduate college in Henan Province. The school has two campuses, Hubin and Chongwen, covering an area of 1.546 million square meters and a building area of 637,400 square meters.
