Mudanjiang Medical College is the only provincial general undergraduate medical college in the southeast of Heilongjiang Province. It is located in Mudanjiang, an important central city and scenic tourist city in the southeast of Heilongjiang Province. The history of the school can be traced back to the Mudanjiang Special District Hospital founded in 1946 and the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Cadre Training School founded in 1956. Mudanjiang Medical College was founded in 1958. The famous historian Guo Moruo wrote the name of the school.
The school began undergraduate education in 1958 and was granted the right to confer a master's degree in 2013. In 2006, in the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education, the expert group gave an excellent evaluation. In 2010, it was listed as a characteristic applied undergraduate university in Heilongjiang Province. In 2012, it was rated as one of the first pilot universities in the country's outstanding doctor education and training program. In 2015, he was awarded the title of "National Civilized Unit", and obtained the 6-year validity period in the clinical medicine certification of the Ministry of Education, ranking the leading level of local medical schools. In 2016, he was highly praised by the expert group in the national undergraduate teaching review and evaluation. In 2020, it was selected as a characteristic applied undergraduate demonstration university in Heilongjiang Province.
The school has long adhered to the school-running direction of "running schools for rural areas and serving the grassroots", and has been fully recognized by the state and society. "The exploration and practice of cultivating native doctors for rural areas" won the special prize of national excellent teaching achievement.
The school covers an area of 712,200 square meters, with a construction area of 350,700 square meters, and the total value of teaching and research equipment is 209 million yuan.
The school’s undergraduate enrollment is open to 28 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country, and there are 11,677 full-time postgraduates and undergraduates. The school offers 21 undergraduate majors including clinical medicine, medical imaging technology, pharmaceutical engineering, and public utility management, covering 4 disciplines of medicine, science, engineering and management. Among them, clinical medicine, medical imaging, anesthesiology, and medical laboratory are the provincial key majors, and the four majors of clinical medicine, medical imaging, medical laboratory technology, and pharmaceutical engineering are listed as provincial-level first-class undergraduate professional construction points. Medical imaging is a provincial first-class specialty, a national first-class specialty construction site, and a provincial talent training model innovation experimental zone. Stomatology, clinical medicine, medical imaging, and anesthesiology are listed as undergraduate admissions. Clinical medicine, basic medicine, biology, nursing, public health, pharmacy, and biomedical engineering are first-level disciplines authorized for master's degree, and there are 29 second-level disciplines authorized for master's degree. Basic-level practical clinical medicine is listed as the "Double First-class" construction project in Heilongjiang Province-the province's characteristic discipline construction discipline. Six disciplines including basic medicine and biology are provincial key disciplines. There are 7 provincial-level boutique online open courses such as "Common Infectious Diseases", "Brilliant Oral", and "Functions", provincial-level boutique video public courses, and provincial-level online and offline mixed first-class courses.
The school currently has 2,821 faculty members (including two directly affiliated hospitals), 885 persons with senior professional titles, and 912 persons with master's degree or above. There are 751 full-time teachers, 237 senior titles, and 244 associate senior titles. 76.2% are teachers with a master's degree or above, including 159 teachers with a doctoral degree. The teachers of our school won 16 national awards including the first national special prize of the teaching design competition for teachers of medical imaging technology and the second prize of the second national class teaching competition for young teachers of rehabilitation related majors.
The school has 4 key laboratories in Heilongjiang Province, including tumor disease prevention and treatment and stroke prevention and treatment; it has the "Chronic Disease and Drug Research Center" of the Sino-Russian Medical University Alliance, the provincial biomedical technology service platform, and the research and development of engineering technology jointly built by universities and enterprises in the province Center, as well as the only Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Mudanjiang Municipal Government, and Mudanjiang Medical College to build a pharmaceutical R&D platform.

The school library has a collection of 1.0237 million paper books, 754,900 electronic books, 15 databases, and an advanced electronic book system and computer network service system.
The school has 8 affiliated hospitals, 100 teaching hospitals, practice hospitals and other practice teaching bases. The affiliated Hongqi Hospital is the first standardized training base for residents in the country, with 1,600 beds.
The school has established exchanges and cooperation relations with foreign institutions such as the Pacific National Medical University in Russia, the University of Tennessee in the United States, and the University of Fatima in the Philippines.
