Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology is located on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin, the beautiful ice city. After 73 years of construction and development, it has become a coordinated development of science, engineering, management, literature, economics, and law. Mining is a multidisciplinary university with professional characteristics, forming a "one school, two places, three campuses" school structure, and has made outstanding contributions to the regional economy and society and the development of my country's coal industry. It is known as the "backbone of the coal industry". The school is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province and the State Ministry of Emergency Management (National Administration of Work Safety), an excellent university in the evaluation of the national teaching work level, and a demonstration university for the construction of undergraduate programs with characteristics in Heilongjiang Province.



The predecessor of the school was the first coal miner cadre school in Northeast China established by the Communist Party of China in 1947 in Jixi. In 1954, it merged with Hegang Coal Mine School to form Jixi Coal Mine School. In 1958, Jixi Mining College for undergraduate education was established on this basis. In 1964, it was changed to Jixi Coal Mine School due to school adjustment. In 1978, the undergraduate education Jixi Institute of Mining was rebuilt, and in 1981 it was renamed Heilongjiang Institute of Mining, which was subordinate to the former Ministry of Coal Industry. In 1998, it was transferred to the local government and implemented a system of joint construction between the central and local governments, with Heilongjiang Province as the main management system. In 2000, it was renamed Heilongjiang Institute of Science and Technology. In 2013, it was renamed Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology.



The school adheres to the concept of "student-oriented, responsible for living", closely centering on the fundamental task of cultivating people, following the law of education and teaching and the law of talent growth, and strives to cultivate high-quality applications of "high ideological and moral quality and strong engineering practice ability" Type talents. The school has 17 colleges and 23,772 full-time students, including 22,639 undergraduates, 1,133 doctoral and master graduates. The employment rate of undergraduate graduates has been among the top universities in the province for 18 consecutive years. It has been awarded the "National Graduate Employment" by the Ministry of Education "Top 50 Universities" and "National Advanced Collective for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Education".



The school adheres to the concept of "respecting and serving teachers" and vigorously implements the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents". There are 1881 faculty members. In recent years, "national outstanding teachers", "provincial model teachers" and "provincial outstanding teachers" have emerged. A large number of outstanding talents and outstanding teams represented by "provincial teaching teachers", provincial "teaching teams" and "educational research teams", as well as a large number of "double-qualified" teachers.



The school has established a "coal mine accident emergency rescue and impact control" doctoral talent training program, which can be awarded a doctorate degree in safety science and engineering, and has a postdoctoral research station in safety science and engineering. It has the right to promote and exempt graduate students. There are 11 first-level master degree authorization points, 1 second-level master degree authorization point, and 9 master professional degree authorization categories. It has 9 echelons of provincial-level leading talents. There are 5 provincial and ministerial key laboratories (including 1 provincial and ministerial joint laboratory), 10 provincial and ministerial engineering technology research centers, 1 provincial collaborative innovation center, 1 provincial key cultivated think tank, and 1 key research base of humanities and social sciences in universities. It has a number of high-end technology service platforms such as domestic first-class engineering training and basic experiment centers.



The school has 58 undergraduate majors, including 4 national first-class professional construction sites and 8 provincial first-class professional construction sites. 1 national quality video course and 2 provincial quality online courses. 2 national off-campus practical education bases for college students, 1 provincial-level talent training model innovation demonstration zone, 1 national-level demonstration virtual simulation experimental teaching project, 3 provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, 1 provincial-level demonstration virtual Simulation experimental teaching project, 4 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 talent training centers for revitalizing the old industrial base in Northeast China, and 1 national coal mine safety training base.



Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", the school has undertaken 37 national-level projects such as the National Science and Technology Support Program, National Key R&D Program (topics), and National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 123 provincial and ministerial-level projects, with a total scientific and technological funding of more than 250 million yuan. Won 50 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. There are 5 provincial (ministerial) level key laboratories, 10 provincial (ministerial) level engineering centers, resource city sustainable development research center, 1 provincial think tank, and 1 provincial (ministerial) level key laboratories, including the Laboratory of Ground Pressure Control and Gas Governance for Deep Mining of Coal Mines "Mineral Resources Development and Utilization" Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center. The "Basic Research on the Safety of Gas and Other Hydrocarbon Gas Transportation Pipeline Networks" serving the national safety production technology support system is an earlier research platform for the prevention of gas disasters and gas solidification storage and transportation with hydrate technology at home and abroad.



The school insists on strengthening foreign exchanges and cooperation. Actively promote cross-cultural learning interaction, broaden the field of international cooperation, have carried out Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with Russia and Canada for more than 20 years, and established inter-school partnerships with 29 foreign universities.

At present, the school is holding high the great banner of Xi Jinping’s socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, studying and implementing the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Plenary Sessions of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
