Harbin Normal University is located in Harbin, a famous historical and cultural city known as the "Ice City of Summer". The school was established in 1951. Its predecessor was Songjiang Provincial Xingzhi Normal School established by our party in the Northeast Liberated Area in 1946. It experienced Harbin Teachers College (1951—1956) and Harbin Normal University (1956—1980). In 1980, it was renamed Harbin Normal University. In 2000, Hulan Teachers College and Heilongjiang Agricultural Reclamation Teachers College were merged. In 2002, Heilongjiang Material School (Heilongjiang Material Workers University) merged to form the new Harbin Normal University.
