The predecessor of Heilongjiang Art Vocational College was Heilongjiang Opera School. It was founded in 1959 and renamed Heilongjiang Art School in 1972. It was approved by the provincial government in September 2002 and merged with Heilongjiang Provincial Cultural Cadre School to form Heilongjiang Art Vocational College. It is currently Heilongjiang The only state-run full-time comprehensive art vocational college in the province. The college has two campuses. The main campus is located at No. 149 Hexing Road, Nangang District, and the branch campus is located at No. 21 Zhongxing Street, Nangang District, with a total area of 160 acres. There are 31 majors in 28 majors, including dance performance, opera performance, film and television performance, music education, cultural relic restoration, and museum management.
