Hainan Sports Vocational and Technical College

Hainan Sports Vocational and Technical College is located in Haikou City, Hainan Province, a beautiful tropical island seaside resort city. The college is located in the political and cultural center of Hainan Province, adjacent to the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Hainan Provincial Museum, the Hainan Provincial Library, the Hainan Provincial Song and Dance Theater and the Hainan Provincial Cultural and Sports Park.


The college is a full-time public general higher sports vocational college established by integrating the Hainan Provincial Advanced Sports Technical School and related sports resources. It was established with the approval of the Hainan Provincial People’s Government in early 2016. It is a sports vocational education, provincial A full-time higher sports vocational college integrating sports training and sports scientific research.


The college has 7 party and government management agencies including office, organization and personnel office, finance office, academic affairs office, student office, admissions and employment guidance office, and logistics security office; there are also track and field department, water sports department, heavy athletics department, and ball games. Department, Training and Competition Department, Amateur Sports School, Wuzhishan Sports Training Base, and other 7 training and competition institutions; and 1 sports research institution: Sports Science Research Institute; in addition, there are Sports Training and Education Department, Social Sports Department, and Public Teaching Department , Ministry of Continuing Education, Library and Audio-visual Education Center, Teaching and Training Center and other 6 teaching and teaching auxiliary institutions. Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports authorized the establishment of a social sports instructor training center in the college.


The total scale of the college’s land is 148.2 acres, including 98.86 acres for the headquarters of the college, 38.15 acres for the Wuzhishan Comprehensive Training Base and 11.19 acres for the Provincial Fitness Center. The headquarters of the college includes track and field stadiums, comprehensive training halls, basketball courts, outdoor swimming pools, beach volleyball training grounds, teaching buildings, athletes' dormitories, boxing apartment buildings, canteens and other venues.


The Wuzhishan Comprehensive Training Base is managed in the form of commissioned operation, including the Olympic Training Hall and the Olympic Complex. In 2017, the base was named "National Hainan Wuzhishan Sports Training Base (Weightlifting, Wrestling, Judo)" by the State Sports General Administration.


The college is responsible for the development of competitive sports in Hainan Province. It currently has nine professional sports teams including surfing, sailing, windsurfing, weightlifting, boxing, taekwondo, beach volleyball, track and field, and golf. There are 39 coaches with senior titles and above. There are 5 coaches and 11 coaches with intermediate titles. There are 100 outstanding athletes, 61 trial athletes and 325 training athletes. Since the establishment of the school, it has trained 8 international athletes, 93 athletes, and 233 first-level athletes. Participated in the 7th to 13th National Games, won 6 championships, 7 runners-up and 14 third runners-up; participated in international competitions and won 41 championships, 28 runner-ups and 17 third runners; participated in major national competitions and won the championship 142, 148 runners-up and 141 third runners-up.


At the same time, the amateur sports school affiliated to the college also has 11 sports such as basketball, tennis, table tennis, golf, windsurfing, weightlifting, beach volleyball, boxing, track and field, surfing, taekwondo, etc. to cultivate reserve forces for outstanding sports teams in Hainan Province. The college is recognized as a national high-level sports reserve talent base. The amateur sports school was assessed by the General Administration of Sports as "National Track and Field Individual (Short Span) Olympic High-level Reserve Talent Base".


At present, the college offers six majors: Social Sports, Sports Health and Rehabilitation, Sports Training, Leisure Sports, Golf Sports and Management, and E-sports and Management. In 2017, it recruited students nationwide for the first time, and currently there are 809 college students (including the five-year consistent system). There are 76 teachers, 18 associate senior titles, and 11 intermediate. The college adheres to the people-oriented talent training model, and trains retired athletes and ordinary high school students into high-end skilled talents and high-quality technical and practical talents that are suitable for the development of the sports industry.


The new campus of the college will be planned and constructed as a whole with the National Sports Training South Base. With the approval of the Haikou Municipal Government, the new campus of the college and the National Sports Training South Base are located in Guilinyang University District, Jiangdong New District, Haikou City, with a total area of about 600 acres. Currently, the college is advancing the preparatory work for the construction of related projects.
