Guizhou Agricultural Vocational College was established in 2015 with the approval of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province and the Ministry of Education’s record. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guizhou Province is the only agricultural higher vocational college in Guizhou.

The history of the college can be traced back to 1956. For more than 60 years, the college has cultivated more than 10,000 agricultural professionals, including Zhang Yueping, who was selected as one of the "100 Dreams of Helping the Country" by the Ministry of Education, and Zhang Yueping, who was awarded the "13th Annual Chinese University Student Person of the Year" The shortlisted candidate "Xiong Jian" and a large number of outstanding alumni. The college currently has more than 11,000 vocational and vocational students and vocational expansion personnel, among which there are more than 8,900 vocational students. The college has 6 departments including the Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Department of Mechanical and Electrical, Department of Agronomic Engineering, Department of Food and Pharmaceuticals, Department of Economic Management, and Department of Information Engineering. According to the idea of “professional chain” and “industrial chain”, 31 professional directions are set up. Covering the leading industries with agricultural characteristics established by Guizhou Province, based on serving the needs of regional economic development, the professional structure is continuously optimized.
The college has four campuses: Qingzhen, Wudang, Yunyan and Kaili, covering an area of 599.53 acres, 187 acres, 45 acres, and 89 acres. The main campus of the college is the Qingzhen campus. It is located in Qingzhen City, known as Sanshuiying City and Sihutuo City, Hongfeng Lake, a national scenic spot. The Qingzhen campus has a total investment of 1.0272 billion yuan and is constructed in two phases. The first phase of the project invested about 470 million yuan. In September 2016, the construction of 137,978 square meters of teaching buildings, training buildings, sports fields, student dormitories and canteens was completed and put into use; the second phase of the project has a construction area of 160,000 square meters and construction content Including libraries, teaching buildings, student dormitories, gymnasiums, etc., will be completed and put into use in the fall semester of 2020. The college has established Guizhou Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Cultural Center, plant factory, edible fungus factory, pet training room, baking workshop, juice production workshop, industrial automation training room, tea processing and other on-campus training practice bases or laboratories. The college plans to build a large-scale off-campus open public training base (Baiyi Training Base) integrating scientific research, teaching, training, production, and tertiary industries in Baiyi Town, Wudang District, Guiyang City. Baiyi Training Base has initially completed the construction of more than 800 acres of core area, including August melon high-standard planting demonstration garden, landscape tea garden, Yungu pastoral garden, cultural medicine garden, romantic orchard, creative vegetable garden, water rhyme rice garden, etc. The internship function section has greatly improved the level of scientific research, teaching and practical training in the college, and the conditions for running a school are becoming more and more perfect.

The college actively integrates into the main battlefield of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers". Since 2016, it has organized training courses on special agricultural products planting and breeding technology, e-commerce, leisure agriculture, young farmers, etc., based on the agricultural industry skills training needs of 20 extremely poor towns in Guizhou Province. The college has established the concept of open education.
