Guizhou Police Academy is sponsored by the People's Government of Guizhou Province, in charge of the Guizhou Provincial Public Security Department, and the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education is responsible for business management. It is the province's only full-time general undergraduate college of politics, law and public security. The predecessor of the school was the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government Public Security Cadre School established in February 1950. It was divided into Guizhou Provincial Public Security Cadre School and Guizhou Provincial Political and Law Cadre School in 1978. In 1985, the two schools were upgraded to Guizhou Public Security Cadre College and Guizhou Provincial Political and Law School. School of Management Cadres, the two schools merged in 2000 to form Guizhou Police Officer Vocational College. In May 2017, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of the Guizhou Police College at the undergraduate level; in September 2020, it cooperated with Guizhou University for Nationalities to train graduate students; in June 2021, it was added as a bachelor's degree-granting unit by the Guizhou Province Academic Degrees Office. There are more than 5,000 students in the school, and the average annual training is about 5,000 police officers.
The school is located in Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, adjacent to Longdongbao International Airport, Shuanglong Ecological Park, and Guiyang Forest Park. It has successively won the titles of "National Model Unit for Greening" and "Civilized Campus of the Province". The school occupies an area of 520 acres, the total value of teaching and research equipment is 54.1281 million yuan, the collection of 740,000 paper books, 1.15 million e-books, 63 on-campus experimental training sites and 43 off-campus teaching and practical training bases. The school's judicial appraisal center was rated as an advanced collective of national judicial appraisal by the Ministry of Justice.
The school has 288 full-time teachers, of which 126 are with senior professional titles, accounting for 43.8% of the total number of full-time teachers; 192 are with a master’s degree or above, accounting for 66.7% of the total number of full-time teachers; and there are 138 dual-qualified teachers. There are national outstanding teachers, outstanding teachers of Guizhou Province, 6 outstanding teachers of the national public security system, 2 national public security system teaching teachers, 10 outstanding education and training workers in the province, provincial management experts, “Qianling Scholars” from universities in the province and provincial There are 6 academic leaders, 2 members of the Higher Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and 9 members of the Guizhou Higher Education Steering Committee. The school and individuals have been awarded first, second, and third class by the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Government, and the Provincial Public Security Department many times.
The school currently has 9 teaching departments and 12 undergraduate majors. Criminal science and technology, public security and public security management are provincial-level first-class construction majors, and the criminal science and technology department has been rated as a comprehensive reform pilot of the province’s "Three Alls Education" Department, the criminal science and technology teaching team is a provincial-level excellent teaching team, with 7 provincial and ministerial-level excellent courses, 23 provincial and ministerial-level teaching achievement awards, and the filmed micro-film "Chenglu" won the national "Ideological and Political Course in My Heart" The special prize of the competition, the Sanda team won the first place in the group and individual of the National College Wushu Sanda Championship for many times.
The school’s public security and criminal science and technology are key provincial-level supporting disciplines. It has established a number of provincial-level scientific research platforms such as the Guizhou Politics and Law Big Data Technology Innovation Center and the Security Engineering Center. Since the launch of the undergraduate school, a total of 178 scientific research projects at various levels have been completed, including 83 national, provincial and ministerial projects; 20 monographs and textbooks have been published, 542 papers have been published, and 3 invention patents and 3 software copyrights have been authorized. A number of achievements won the first, second and third prizes for outstanding achievements in the provincial philosophy and social sciences, the first prize of the Guizhou Provincial Literature and Art Award, the first prize of the Provincial Science and Technology Strong Police and the first prize of the Excellent Research Paper by the Provincial Political and Legal Committee. There are 2 academic leaders in philosophy and social sciences in colleges and universities across the province, 4 "Academic Pioneers" in Guizhou Province, the Department of Public Security Management and Public Security have been awarded the title of "Academic Pioneers in Guizhou Province", and the school journal has been rated as the National Excellent Social Science Journal.
The school has successively trained more than 50,000 graduates for public officials, procuratorates, law enforcement agencies, drivers, and enterprises and institutions in and outside the province, and trained more than 70,000 people including in-service police officers and political and legal cadres. In May 2018, the Ministry of Public Security approved the "China-ASEAN and neighboring countries big data police international exchange and cooperation base" to settle in the school, and based on this, held two China-ASEAN and neighboring countries big data international police exchange cooperation forum. The school has also held training courses for police officers of the Ministry of Interior of Myanmar, Myanmar anti-drug law enforcement training courses, Jordanian police force use instructors training courses, China-ASEAN and neighboring countries big data policing international training courses, Laos criminal investigation technology training courses, Tanzania Sangria Anti-drug Law Enforcement Seminar and other training programs for foreign police.
The school always adheres to the guidance of Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, adheres to the direction of socialism, insists on cultivating people, and strives to build Guizhou public security professional talent training base, Guizhou in-service police training base, Guizhou public security scientific research and technical support base , China-ASEAN and neighboring countries big data police international exchange and cooperation base, and strive to build the school into a key public security college with obvious geographical advantages, distinctive school characteristics, and actual combat needs.
