In May 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Zunyi Medical University took the lead in establishing the School of Science and Technology of Zunyi Medical College. In 2004, it was renamed as the School of Medicine and Technology of Zunyi Medical College with the approval of the Ministry of Education in order to highlight the characteristics of the disciplines. In December 2018, it was renamed as the School of Medicine and Technology of Zunyi Medical University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The school currently has more than 13,000 students. The current school address is located in Xinpu New District, Zunyi City, a famous historical and cultural city.
Over the past 20 years, the college has fully relied on high-quality resources such as the faculty of Zunyi Medical University, the quality system of education and teaching, and various teaching and research platforms. Upon graduation, students obtain the credits required by the professional talent training program, and are awarded a bachelor's degree certificate from the School of Medicine and Technology of Zunyi Medical University registered electronically by the Ministry of Education. Those who meet the requirements for granting a bachelor's degree will be awarded a bachelor's degree.
The passing rate of the college graduates' clinical practicing physician examination, dental practicing physician examination, and nurse practicing qualification examination are good. Graduates are engaged in professional work in medical and health units, higher education units, institutions, etc. in Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guangdong, Beijing, Shanghai and other places, and have been widely praised by employers, and the employment situation is excellent. At present, more than 16,000 people have been trained, of which more than 75% are employed by primary medical units, making outstanding contributions to the development of Guizhou's economy, society, and medical and health services.
The college now consists of the School of Basic Medicine, the School of Clinical Medicine, the School of Nursing, the School of Public Administration, the School of Sports and Health, and the School of Medical Care and Health. There are 22 undergraduate majors with a reasonable professional structure and distribution, covering medicine, science, management, literature, and engineering. 6 disciplines, including medicine, education, etc., have formed a coordinated development pattern of multi-disciplinary and multi-professional with medicine as the mainstay. At the same time, the college has established strategic partnerships with many tertiary hospitals across the country to create a good learning environment and internship conditions for students, and effectively ensure the quality of schooling.
In order to achieve the long-term development of the college and better meet the needs of education, teaching and students’ study and life, the college started the construction of an independent campus located on No. 1 Road, Xinpu New District, in 2017. It covers an area of more than 500 acres and has a planned total construction area of about 33. 10,000 square meters, 210,000 square meters have been officially put into use.
