Xingyi Normal University for Nationalities

Xingyi Normal University for Nationalities is based on the Bishan Academy rebuilt in 1813, and has gone through historical periods such as the Higher Primary School, Xingyi County Middle School, and Xingyi Middle School in Guizhou Province. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was changed to Xingyi Normal School in Guizhou Province in 1952, and the history of modern normal education began. In 1975, it was renamed the "May 7th" Normal University of Xingyi Prefecture. In 1978, it was renamed Xingyi Teachers College. In 1982, it was renamed Qianxinan Teachers College for Nationalities. In 1993, it was renamed Qianxinan Nationalities Teachers College. In 2001, it began to jointly run schools with Guizhou Normal University to train undergraduate students. In 2005, Xingyi Normal School and Anlong Normal School for Nationalities were merged into Southwestern Guizhou Normal College for Nationalities, expanding the scale of schooling. In March 2009, the school was officially upgraded to Xingyi Normal University for Nationalities with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In December 2016, the school passed the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching work in ordinary colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, and was approved by the Guizhou Provincial Academic Degrees Committee, and was newly added as a "13th Five-Year" master's degree project construction unit. In 2017, it was listed as the second batch of Guizhou Province Application-oriented development and transformation pilot universities, in 2019, will jointly train graduate students and recruit students with Ningbo University and Guizhou Normal University. Over the past two centuries, the school has continued to run a school and has an unbroken text. Today, it is adhering to the school motto of “Diligent Study, Appreciation of Beauty, Seeking Truth, and Innovation”, closely integrating talent training with local economic and social development, and continuously improving the level of school management and school management. The country has trained nearly 30,000 talents at all levels and various types, which has made positive contributions to the economic and social development of Qianxinan Prefecture and has achieved a good social reputation.


Geographical Location The Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Southwest Guizhou is located at the junction of the three provinces (regions) of Guizhou, Yunnan, and Guangxi. It is adjacent to Guangxi in the south and Yunnan in the west. It is located in the upper reaches of the Pearl River and the middle section of the Nankun Railway. The school is located in Xingyi City, where the prefecture of Qianxinan Prefecture is located.


The school covers an area of 1,211 acres, with a total school building area of 232,700 square meters, including 107,400 square meters of teaching and administrative buildings, 78,900 square meters of student dormitories; 27,200 square meters of library, 674,100 books, and 80.1 e-books. Ten thousand volumes, 11 digital resources; total value of teaching and research equipment is 65,776,500 yuan.


The subject professional school has 14 secondary colleges, 41 undergraduate majors, 7 junior majors and 1 minority bilingual preparatory class; covering law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, art and Nine disciplines of agricultural science, among which, Chinese language and literature, chemistry, and pedagogy are the key construction disciplines of the school’s master’s degree program construction unit; there are 1 provincial-level first-class cultivation major, 1 provincial-level first-class cultivation teaching team, and 3 Provincial-level key construction curriculum group, 5 provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot majors; 1 provincial-level key cultivation discipline, 3 provincial-level key support disciplines, 1 provincial-level key support cultivation discipline, and 1 provincial-level characteristic key laboratory; There are 19 on-campus scientific research institutions (centers) such as the Provincial College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Center, the Chinese National Normal Education Research Center, and the International Mountain Tourism Development Research Institute.


There are 700 faculty and staff in the school, including 51 with senior professional titles, 207 with deputy senior titles, 93 doctors and 366 masters have been introduced and trained; 4 "thousand" level talents in Guizhou Province, and teaching guidance in Guizhou Province There are 5 committee members and 6 provincial and state commendations in 2019.


The talent training school has 11142 full-time students, including 9805 undergraduates (including 757 preparatory students) and 1,337 college students. The school insists on teaching as the center and continuously improves the quality of teaching. In 2013, it became a bachelor's degree awarding unit. There are 27 undergraduate majors with the right to confer bachelor's degree. In 2019, the comprehensive employment rate of undergraduates and colleges reached 85.83%, of which the initial employment rate of undergraduate graduates reached 87.04%.


Since the scientific research results were upgraded, it has been awarded 3 National Social Science Foundation projects (including 1 key project), 2 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 Humanities and Social Science Research Project of the Ministry of Education, and National Educational Science "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" Project 1; won 94 provincial and ministerial-level projects, 442 prefectural and departmental scientific research projects; won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 6 third prizes of the Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, and won the Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awarded 1 second prize, 1 first prize and 3 third prizes of Qianxinan Prefecture Science and Technology Progress Award; faculty published nearly 4000 papers, including 552 core and higher journals, included in SCI, EI, ISSHP, etc. 59 papers; 82 textbooks and books published; 1 collaborative innovation center for poverty alleviation and ecological restoration of characteristic industries in southwest Guizhou Province, 1 provincial demonstration base of humanities and social sciences for mountain tourism education and promotion, and provincial characteristic key laboratories Three.


The cooperative exchange school has successively signed cooperation agreements with universities such as Capital Normal University, Ningbo University, Southwest University, etc., and 21 universities and institutions in the United States, Russia, Britain, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Macau and Taiwan. Cooperation and exchanges have been carried out in personnel training, teacher-student exchanges, scientific research cooperation, resource sharing and campus culture, etc., successively organized delegations to participate in educational exchange activities in more than 20 countries and regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, and Poland. Signed school-site cooperation framework agreements with five local governments, including Zhenfeng County and Qinglong County People’s Government, and signed school-enterprise strategic cooperation agreements with five companies including China Mobile’s Qianxinan Prefecture Branch. Exchanges and cooperation were carried out in base construction and other aspects. Using platforms such as the "Thousand Talents Study Abroad Program" of Guizhou Province, more than 200 international students were sent to high-level universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan.
