Guizhou Institute of Technology was established in response to the needs of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government in implementing the strategy of strengthening the province through industry and the strategy of driving urbanization. It was formally approved by the Ministry of Education on April 18, 2013. The site established a full-time, provincial-owned general undergraduate college of engineering, with engineering as the main body, engineering, science, management, art, education, literature and other multi-disciplinary coordinated development. In 2014, he was selected as the "Basic Ability Construction Project for Universities in Central and Western China". In January 2017, it became the first batch of demonstration universities in the country to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education.
The school is located in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, the southwestern summer capital of the motherland. It has two campuses. The Caijiaguan campus is located on the bank of Aha Lake in the southwest of Guiyang, covering an area of 866.7 acres. The Gui'an campus is located on Dr. Road, University Town, Gui'an New District. , Covers an area of about 1757 acres. The school sets up the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, the School of Mining Engineering, the School of Materials and Energy Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Artificial Intelligence and Electrical Engineering, the School of Big Data, the School of Chemical Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the School of Transportation Engineering. There are 19 colleges including the School of Science, the School of Food and Drug Manufacturing Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Aerospace Engineering, the School of Continuing Education, the School of Marxism, the School of Physical Education, the School of Foreign Languages, and the School of International Education. After eight years of construction, the discipline construction thinking of "heavy industry, strong management, strong management and cultural development, promotion of cross-cutting, and outstanding characteristics" has gradually formed.
The school currently has 38 undergraduate majors, and it has jointly organized electrical engineering and automation undergraduate majors in Sino-foreign cooperation with the University of Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom. Existing first-class construction and cultivation subject materials science and engineering in Guizhou Province, provincial-level key disciplines material science and engineering, geological resources and geological engineering, provincial-level characteristic key cultivation disciplines aerospace science and technology, provincial-level key supporting disciplines management science and Engineering, computer application technology, machinery manufacturing and its automation, the provincial key supports the cultivation of disciplines of electric power system and its automation, and chemical technology.
The school has 923 faculty members. There are 100 senior titles, 295 associate senior titles; 242 doctors and 516 masters. Provincial core expert, provincial management expert, provincial government special allowance winner, Ministry of Education new century outstanding talent, provincial university philosophy and social science "Qianling Scholar", provincial Jiaxiu cultural talent, provincial outstanding young scientific and technological talent, and provincial youth science and technology award. There are nearly 30 talents, provincial outstanding scientific and technological workers, provincial 100-level innovative talent training objects, and provincial 1,000-level innovative talent training objects; there are 5 national outstanding teachers and provincial outstanding teachers.
The school currently has more than 13,044 full-time undergraduate students (including 126 international students). The school actively promotes the opening up of schools, and jointly runs schools with the Provincial Department of Transportation, Alibaba, AVIC Guifei, etc.; signed cooperation agreements with many foreign universities, actively carried out academic education, short-term training, etc., and accumulated training from Russia and Kazakhstan. There are nearly 400 international students from 21 countries including Stan, Laos and India. In July 2017, it initiated the establishment of the "China-ASEAN University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance" and became the rotating chairman unit and permanent secretariat unit. Vigorously build a one-stop service platform for education informatization, and established the "Eban Development Center", which became the first pilot unit of the Ministry of Education in Guizhou Province to jointly build the Eban Group.
