Guiyang Institute of Information Technology (referred to as "Guiyang Academy of Sciences") is a full-time private general university approved by the Ministry of Education. The predecessor of the college was Mingde College of Guizhou University. It was founded in 2001 and was first named the International Cooperation College of Guizhou University of Technology. In 2004, the former Guizhou University and Guizhou University of Technology merged to form a new Guizhou University, and the college was renamed Mingde College of Guizhou University; In 2013, Guizhou University and Tellhow Group responded to the state's policy of encouraging social forces to run schools and cooperated to establish independent colleges with a new mechanism; in 2021, as the first batch of independent colleges in Guizhou Province that passed the evaluation of the Ministry of Education, it was transferred in May 2021 It is an independent private general college and its name is changed to Guiyang Institute of Information Technology.
The college is located in Huaxi University Town, Gui'an New District, a national new area of industry-city integration and innovation, and ecological civilization demonstration. It is adjacent to the permanent site of China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week-China-ASEAN International Conference Center. It covers an area of more than 780 acres and has a building area of 450,000. More than square meters, the current enrollment scale is 13,850, and the construction investment has exceeded 1.5 billion yuan. Now it has become a private general undergraduate college with a beautiful environment and complete supporting facilities.

There are 6 teaching units in the Department of Information Engineering, Department of Digital Media, Department of Health Management, Department of Intelligent Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, and Department of Economic Management.
