The predecessor of the college was the Guangxi Provincial Public Security School established in January 1950. Later, it has experienced development stages such as Guangxi Public Security Cadre School, Guangxi Political and Law Public Security School, Guangxi Political and Law Cadre School, Guangxi People’s Police School, and Guangxi Public Security Management Cadre College. It was restructured in 2003. Guangxi Police College; In 2015, it was upgraded to Guangxi Police College with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of the Autonomous Region. The college is in charge of the Public Security Department of the Autonomous Region and the Education Department of the Autonomous Region provides professional guidance. It is the only full-time general undergraduate college in Guangxi that trains public security professionals.
The college currently has three campuses: Xianhu, Changhu and Beihai, covering an area of 427,500 square meters (641.188 mu), with a school building area of 278,300 square meters. Among them, the area of teaching, scientific research and administrative buildings is 154,800 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 60,884 million yuan, and a modern campus network service system has been built.

The college has three undergraduate majors: investigation, public security and criminal science and technology; there are investigation, anti-drug, public security management, traffic management, criminal technology, police command and tactics, information network security supervision, police management, legal affairs, legal secretarial, There are 12 specialties in computer application technology and security, covering 2 disciplines of law and engineering, and 3 first-level disciplines of law, public security and public security technology. Among them, public security and public security technology are the main disciplines, law and electronic information are supporting disciplines (professionals), and safety and security are related majors.
The college attaches great importance to the research of police theory and academic exchanges, and has 9 research institutions closely related to the industry, including the anti-drug research center, the social stability research center in border and ethnic areas, and the ASEAN police research center.
After more than 60 years of exploration and practice, the college has formed a systematic and embedded police talent training model with distinctive characteristics of "research, teaching, learning, training, war, and thinking", and fully serves the basic informatization of public security organs and police. Practical combat, standardized law enforcement, and regularized team construction have provided Guangxi with more than 50,000 qualified police officers, trained more than 70,000 police officers on duty, and undertaken more than 3 training courses for foreign police from the Ministry of Public Security each year.
