The predecessor of Guangxi Normal University of Science and Technology ("Guangxi Teachers") was Yishan Teachers College, founded in 1958, and was renamed Liuzhou Teachers College after merging with Liuzhou Teachers College in 1959. In 1960, it moved from Yishan to Liuzhou to run the school. . In 1962, the school ceased operations during the adjustment of colleges and universities nationwide. In 1970, Liuzhou Prefecture Normal School was established on the basis of Liuzhou National Agricultural Technical School. In 1982, Liuzhou Prefecture Teachers' Training College was established in the school. In 1984, it was upgraded to Liuzhou Prefecture Teachers College. In 1994, it was renamed Liuzhou Teachers Technical College. In 2005, Liuzhou School of Finance and Economics was incorporated. Started to run a school in Laibin in 2012 and was upgraded to Guangxi Normal University of Science and Technology in 2015.
The school currently covers an area of 1617.1 acres, including 1010.1 acres on the main campus Laibin campus and 607 acres on the Liuzhou campus. There are currently 10,640 full-time students; there are 13 secondary colleges with 53 majors, including 10 undergraduate majors and 43 higher vocational majors. The school has 475 full-time teachers, including 186 teachers with senior professional titles (44 full-time professional titles), accounting for 39.16% of full-time teachers; 224 teachers with postgraduate and master's degree or above (14 PhD teachers), accounting for 47.16% of full-time teachers; doctoral students 1 mentor. "Dual teacher" teachers and part-time teachers accounted for 45% and 31% of full-time teachers, respectively. In recent years, the school has obtained 1 autonomous region-level teaching team, 2 central finance-supported construction majors, 7 autonomous region key majors, 4 autonomous region-level quality courses, 1 Guangxi demonstration higher vocational education training base, and Guangxi higher vocational education practice There are 3 training bases, and the school has been identified as a key training base for teacher education in Guangxi. Undertook 48 Guangxi higher education reform projects in the new century, and won 6 autonomous region-level teaching achievement awards. Won 91 scientific research projects at or above the autonomous region level, including 5 National Natural Science Foundation of 190 articles have been cited by EI and ISTP, and 125 textbooks and books have been compiled. "Journal of Guangxi Normal University of Science and Technology" has been rated as the national and regional excellent social science journals for many times. The school has been rated as an advanced group in the implementation of the "National Physical Exercise Standard Implementation Measures", an advanced unit in the implementation of the National Sports Work Regulations, an advanced group in the "Three Rural Areas", a safe and civilized campus in Guangxi colleges and universities, and an advanced in the employment of ordinary college graduates in the region Collective etc. In 2016, it was listed as a pilot school for the overall transformation and development of new undergraduate schools in Guangxi by the Education Department of the autonomous region.
At present, the school seizes development opportunities and firmly follows the path of transformation and development. In August 2016, the school was selected as one of the first pilot universities in China's "Hundred Schools Project" according to the Ministry of Education, and has achieved substantial cooperation in running schools with well-known national companies such as Beijing Zhongguancun Software Park, Tsinghua University TusHoldings, and Zhongke Shuguang.
