The predecessor of Guangxi Normal University of Science and Technology ("Guangxi Teachers") was Yishan Teachers College, founded in 1958, and was renamed Liuzhou Teachers College after merging with Liuzhou Teachers College in 1959. In 1960, it moved from Yishan to Liuzhou to run the school. . In 1962, the school ceased operations during the adjustment of colleges and universities nationwide. In 1970, Liuzhou Prefecture Normal School was established on the basis of Liuzhou National Agricultural Technical School. In 1982, Liuzhou Prefecture Teachers' Training College was established in the school. In 1984, it was upgraded to Liuzhou Prefecture Teachers College. In 1994, it was renamed Liuzhou Teachers Technical College. In 2005, Liuzhou School of Finance and Economics was incorporated. Started to run a school in Laibin in 2012 and was upgraded to Guangxi Normal University of Science and Technology in 2015.
The school currently covers an area of 1617.1 acres, including 1010.1 acres on the main campus Laibin campus and 607 acres on the Liuzhou campus. There are currently 10,640 full-time students; there are 13 secondary colleges with 53 majors, including 10 undergraduate majors and 43 higher vocational majors.
