The predecessor of Nanning Vocational Technical College was Nanning Vocational University founded in 1984. It is a full-time comprehensive higher vocational college organized by the Nanning Municipal People's Government and jointly built by the districts and cities. In December 2009, the school passed the acceptance of demonstration construction by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, becoming the first batch of 28 nationwide and the first national exemplary higher vocational colleges in Guangxi.
Nanning College for Vocational Technology (NCVT), formerly Nanning Vocational University(in 1984), is under the management of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Nanning Municipal Government. As one of the first group of 28 colleges in the project of NationalModel Higher Vocational College, and appraised by the inspection team from Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, NCVT is designated a National Demonstrative Vocational College in December 2009.
The school covers an area of more than 130 hectares, the school building area is more than 500,000 square meters, the school has more than 16,500 full-time vocational students, and more than 3,200 adult continuing education students.

The school closely follows the industrial layout and structural adjustment of Guangxi and the Beibu Gulf economy to build a professional system. It has 10 secondary colleges and more than 60 higher vocational majors, including interior design technology, mechatronics technology, logistics management, hotel management, Six majors including Thai language and software technology are applied as key national demonstration majors.
Course designs are closely based on the demands of the industries involved and the development of the Guangxi Beibu Gulf area. Ten (10) different academic faculties offer sixty-three (60) available majors. Six academic teams for key majors and other related subjects have been set up for Interior Design Technology, Mechanical and Electronic Integration, Logistics Management, Hotel Management, Applied Thai Language, and Software Technology.
The school has 2 national-level teaching achievement awards, 1 national-level quality major, and 9 national-level quality courses. It is currently the only institution of higher learning in Guangxi that has national-level quality majors and the only national-level quality courses for six consecutive years.
For six consecutive years, Nanning College for Vocational Technology has been the only vocational college in Guangxi to be awarded the National Top Quality Curriculum Course Award. Recently the school was recognized for having two National Academic Achievement Awards, one National Top Quality Major and Nine National Top Quality Curriculum Course.
The school has a full-time and part-time "dual-teacher" quality teaching team led by national teaching teachers and national excellent teaching teams. There are 1 national excellent teaching team, 1 national teaching teacher; 2 teaching teachers of the autonomous region, and 7 excellent teaching teams of the autonomous region. There are 510 on-the-job faculty members, including 333 full-time teachers.
There are 510 staff members including 333 academic staffs. Among the outstanding staffs includes one number National Academic Distinguished Teacher,two number of Provincial Academic Distinguished Teachers, one national academic team andseven provincial academic teams. All academic teams are led by a top-level Distinguished Teacher to achieve the best teaching quality possible.
The school adheres to the school motto of "forging aspirations, emphasizing practicality, strengthening skills, and advocating innovation", and has initially formed a talent training model of "school-government interaction, school-enterprise integration, industry-university-research-innovation four-in-one".
NCVT sets “determination, practice, ability & creativity” as the school motto, and the pattern for NCVT school-running is: Interactive in School Administration, Integration in School-Enterprise Cooperation, Four- in- One System of Production, Teaching, Researching & Creation.
Through multi-channel forms of government support, social financing, and enterprise investment, the six major on-campus productive training bases with the industrial training center built by the Spanish government loan project as the backbone have been established. The total equipment value is 120 million yuan, which is for students The training of vocational skills has built a good foundation.
The college has set up six productive training bases with investments from different fields including government funds, community funds, and enterprise funds. With the support of a Spanish government loan with a total value of 1.2 hundred million Yuan, a brand new practical use in- campus training base has been built. This area provides good training facilities for students to improve their vocational technology skills.
The school insists on opening up the school. It has signed inter-school cooperation agreements with 12 universities in ASEAN countries, formed counterpart support relationships with more than 10 higher vocational colleges in and outside the region, and established cooperative relationships with more than 230 industry backbones and leading companies.
NCVT has undertaken international exchange projects with 12 universities in ASEAN countries. Cooperative programs between the school and other 10 regional vocational colleges are in progress, and more than 230 well-known enterprises have established cooperative relationships with the school.
In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has been above 95%. Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 100,000 high-skilled and applied talents for the society, and provided strong talent support for regional economic construction and social development.
Total graduates up to now have reached approximately 100,000 students, who enjoy a good reputation in all fields and these young talents have made their contribution for the society. In addition, in recent years, the graduate employment rate has been up to 95%.
Over the years, the school's development has received strong support from the Ministry of Education, the autonomous region, Nanning City leaders at all levels, governments at all levels, and all sectors of society, laying a solid foundation for the rapid, healthy and sustainable development of the school. In December 2008, Liu Yandong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, and leaders of relevant ministries and commissions inspected the school, praising the school for its distinctive and effective running, and encouraging the school to "become a pioneer in the development of vocational education!"
