Beibu Gulf University is a comprehensive full-time general college of higher learning focusing on engineering, science, and management, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The school is located in Qinzhou, an important hub city of the new western land-sea channel and a coastal city in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone. The 3A-level scenic campus with Lingnan style, coastal scenery, and Southeast Asian style features covers an area of 2,070 acres and provides a good teaching, scientific research, learning and living environment for teachers and students.


The predecessor of the school was the Qinzhou Normal School established in 1973; in May 1991, the Qinzhou Normal College was established; in June 2004, the Qinzhou Normal School for Nationalities, founded in 1906, was merged into the school; in February 2006, the school was upgraded It is Qinzhou College; in November 2018, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Beibu Gulf University on the basis of Qinzhou College.


The school currently has 52 undergraduate majors, 1 master's degree authorized first-level discipline, and 3 professional master's degree authorization points. There are 19,951 full-time students and 630 international students. There are 1297 faculty members, including 983 full-time teachers. Among the teachers are a group of national and autonomous region-level high-level talents, including national teaching teachers, Bagui scholars, young Bagui scholars, special experts from the autonomous region, second-level candidates for the Guangxi "Ten Hundred Thousand Talents", and candidates for the Guangxi Overseas Hundred Talents Program.
