Guangxi University for Nationalities is located on the bank of the beautiful Acacia Lake in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi. Guangxi University for Nationalities was founded in 1952. It was originally the Guangxi Branch of the Central University for Nationalities (now the Central University for Nationalities). It was renamed Guangxi Institute for Nationalities in 1953, Guangxi University for Nationalities in 1958, and Guangxi University for Nationalities in 2006. It is a national nation The affairs committee and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region jointly build universities, the national central and western universities' basic capacity building project construction universities, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region key construction universities. The successive leadership collectives of the party and the country have always cared about and valued the construction and development of Guangxi University for Nationalities. In 1958, Chairman Mao Zedong met with representatives of our school’s teachers and students in Nanning People’s Park. In November 1990, when General Secretary Jiang Zemin visited the school, he praised: “The environment here is beautiful, and it is a good place for studying and learning.” 2006 In November, when Chinese President Hu Jintao visited Vietnam, he cordially received representatives of our school’s teachers and students who were giving lectures and studying in Vietnam; in May 2010, Xi Jinping, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the Central Secretariat, and vice president of the State, visited the school. Work, encourage teachers and students to be more agile in studying, learning, and training to become the builders and successors of the cause of socialism. In October 2013, Yu Zhengsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, came to our school for inspection and investigation. The school currently has three campuses: Xiangsi Lake Campus, Siyuan Lake Campus and Wuming Campus, covering an area of about 3,600 acres, with a campus building area of 887,298 square meters, teaching and research equipment worth 423,123,300 yuan, and a library collection of 1,878,739 books. There are 3,063,138 electronic journals in Chinese and foreign languages, 820 current publications in Chinese and foreign languages, and 7,237,631 e-books. There are currently 24 colleges (including 1 independent college), with disciplines covering 11 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, and art. The school enrolls students nationwide and currently has 24,540 full-time students, including 3045 postgraduates, 19,951 undergraduates, 877 junior college students, 346 preparatory students, and 596 international students. Among them, ethnic minority students account for more than 47%, covering 52 ethnic groups including Zhuang, Han, Miao, Yao, and Dong.
Since its establishment, the school has sent nearly 250,000 graduates of all ethnic groups to the country, including nearly 100 well-known experts and scholars, nearly 20 provincial and ministerial leaders of ethnic minorities, more than 200 prefectural and departmental leaders, and state-owned enterprises. Since 2016, our school teachers have undertaken 144 national-level projects, 391 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and foreign scientific research funds have reached 234,623,800 yuan. The school vigorously implements an international university development strategy.
