The private Hualian College was founded in 1990 by a group of retired professors from some general universities in Guangzhou, such as South China Normal University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, Guangdong Technical Normal University (formerly Guangdong University for Nationalities). Approved by the Guangdong Provincial Government and filed by the Ministry of Education in 1994, it became the first batch of private general colleges and universities in Guangdong with qualifications for academic education and enrollment. In the same year, it participated in the national college entrance examination for unified enrollment. The college enjoys the same treatment as public institutions of higher learning in terms of enrollment qualifications, student loans for poor students, national scholarships for outstanding students, and academic qualifications. Graduates’ academic diplomas are supervised by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, uniformly numbered, and electronic registration is implemented.
The college currently has nearly 10,000 students. It has opened 38 majors this year and has a continuing education college specializing in adult higher education. The college cooperates with South China Normal University, Jinan University, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and other universities. The "Communication" self-examination of undergraduate education has been conducted, and there are currently 4880 part-time undergraduate students in this category. In 2009, with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, the college obtained the qualification to recruit foreign students. On December 17, 2014, our school was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security to establish the Guangdong Private Hualian Vocational Training College. It has now provided various trainings and obtained qualified skills certificates for nearly 10,000 people inside and outside the school. In the past 10 years, the average employment rate of our graduates has been above 96%, and more than 60,000 practical talents have been trained for the society.
The private Hualian College adheres to the tenet of morality first and skills as the top priority, and adheres to the educational philosophy of "aspiration, self-cultivation, erudition, and service for the country". For 15 years, it has persisted in carrying out social practice activities among all students (126 issues in total, recent 40,000 students participated); adhere to the great educator Mr. Tao Xingzhi's educational ideas of "learning to be a real person", "teach others to seek truth", "teaching, learning, and doing", and extensively carry out learning activities among students ; Persist in carrying out a variety of club activities (there are 54 clubs, more than 95% of students participate). Through the above activities, the students' body and mind are exercised, and the students' moral education level is continuously improved.
Private Hualian College implements the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors, and is a veritable professor running and managing the school. The unique management system of the college consists of four systems, namely, decision-making-board of directors; implementation-school committee; supervision-party committee, labor union; consulting-professor committee. The college has a strong faculty. It has a team of full-time and part-time double-qualified teachers with rich teaching experience, practical ability and stability. With a faculty of more than 400 people, it is our responsibility to cultivate compound application-oriented talents with solid professional knowledge, strong application ability, and high comprehensive quality.
The private Hualian College is located in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, with full coverage of buses, subways, and highways, and the transportation is very convenient. Modern living facilities are readily available in the student dormitories, and the school has a completely new look. Part-time jobs, internships, employment, etc. are all very convenient for students. The university has studied in Tianhe District, Guangzhou City for three years.
