The college is located in the Songshan Lake National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, with a total campus area of 620,000 square meters, a school building area of 339,500 square meters, and a laboratory and training area of 89,000 square meters. The existing fixed assets are 1.336 billion yuan, of which the total value of teaching equipment is 138 million yuan. The library has more than 730,000 paper books, 58 kinds of Chinese newspapers, 1384 kinds of Chinese periodicals, 33 kinds of imported newspapers and periodicals, and 7000GB of e-books. It has built a campus network of 10 Gigabit backbone, Gigabit access, and 100M to the desktop.
There are more than 9,600 ordinary full-time students in the college, nearly 5,000 adult education and self-examination students; 632 faculty members, including 447 full-time teachers, 158 senior titles, 40 doctors, and 106 examiners. There are 2 outstanding teachers in Nanyue, 2 provincial technical experts, 2 training targets for the provincial outstanding young teacher training plan, 2 provincial high-level skilled part-time teachers, etc., forming a team of teachers with a more reasonable professional title, educational background, age, and gender structure .
The college formulates development plans based on regional economic and social development trends, establishes a dynamic adjustment mechanism for talent demand forecasting and professional settings, and sets up nine pillars, characteristics and strategic emerging industries in Dongguan such as advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, including manufacturing, electronic information, etc. Major related majors or professional groups have 34 majors including machinery manufacturing and automation, industrial robot technology, and preschool education. It has 2 majors for higher vocational construction supported by the central government, 2 majors for higher vocational-undergraduate collaborative education, 9 provincial higher vocational education reform projects, 5 provincial key majors, 3 provincial-level quality resource sharing courses, and 3 provincial training bases. There are 2 off-campus practice bases for provincial university students.
In accordance with the characteristics of Dongguan's economic and social development and the law of higher vocational education, the college strengthens the integration of teaching, production, service and application, and innovates and implements the school model of "government, school, enterprise collaboration, and integration of school, industry and administration". Co-construct the School of Architecture of Dongguan Vocational and Technical College with enterprises and institutions in accordance with the mixed ownership model; develop modern apprenticeship talent training with companies such as Huawei and NXP; and develop order talent training with companies such as Dongguan International Travel Service and Dongguan Rail Transit Group. At present, the college has opened a mixed-ownership industrial college, 4 modern apprenticeship classes and 21 order classes.
From 2014 to 2016, the college's freshman registration rate ranked first in the province, and the graduate employment rate exceeded 99.40%, ranking first in the province. In 2014, the college was approved by the Provincial Department of Education as a "3+2" pilot college for undergraduate application-oriented talent training, becoming a pilot for undergraduate collaborative education in Guangdong Province, and conducting collaborative training of undergraduate talents with Dongguan University of Technology and Shaoguan University. At present, the college has trained nearly 10,000 full-time graduates, and the employment rate of graduates has remained above 99%, which is well received by employers.
The college gives full play to human resources and technical advantages, and continuously enhances its scientific and technological service capabilities. The Dongguan Vocational and Technical Education Development Research Association and the Dongguan Social Science Association Dongguan Vocational and Technical College Branch were established. In recent years, the college has won 208 projects at or above the city level, 1 provincial science and technology award, 1 provincial agricultural technology promotion award, presided over and participated in the formulation of 4 national industry standards; 2 Guangdong Provincial Enterprise Science and Technology Special Commissioners; Jianyou 4 technology R&D and service centers and 1 social development consulting and service center have obtained 5 invention patent authorizations, 152 authorized patents, and 33 copyrights.
The college attaches great importance to foreign cooperation and exchanges, and has signed cooperation agreements with universities from overseas, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Corresponding support for 5 middle and higher vocational colleges in economically underdeveloped areas in eastern, western and western Guangdong, and a Xinjiang teaching base in Tumshuk, Xinjiang. The college has strengthened cooperation with the government, industry and enterprises, has established cooperative relations with 350 enterprises, explored 9 school-enterprise cooperation models, and led the establishment of the Dongguan Vocational Education "Politics, Schools, and Enterprises" Cooperative Education Steering Committee and 5 The Vocational Education Alliance (Group) has established 108 stable off-campus practice bases. The college, together with Dongguan and towns and streets, implemented the plan for a strong professional town, established vocational training bases in 10 towns and districts in the city, and established a national skill appraisal agency and other skill appraisal carriers, which can appraise 29 types of work, and train nearly 10,000 people per year on average.
The school has achieved remarkable results. In recent years, students have performed well in various competitions and have won more than 300 awards, including more than 30 national awards. In 2013, Lu Xin, the former vice minister of the Ministry of Education, visited the college to inspect the college-enterprise cooperation; in 2014, the college and school-enterprise cooperation units were invited by the Ministry of Education to attend the "Vocational Colleges and Enterprises Study and Implement the National Vocational Church Spirit" Symposium" to share the experience and practices of the college to the participants. In 2015, our college ranked 18 out of 83 vocational colleges in the province, and ranked 286 among 1335 vocational colleges in the country.
