Guangdong Women's Vocational and Technical College is the only public women's college in South China approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government. The school has a history of nearly 40 years. Its predecessors were the Guangdong Women’s Cadre School founded by the Guangdong Women’s Federation in 1981 and the Guangdong Women’s Secondary Vocational School established in 1992. In 2001, it was upgraded to the Guangdong Women’s Vocational and Technical College. In November 2013, the school was identified as a provincial-level model higher vocational college construction unit. In December 2015, the school was recognized as a model school governed by law in Guangdong Province. In 2016, the school was rated as the third batch of Guangdong Provincial University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Model Schools and the second batch of National Vocational College Digital Campus Construction Experimental Schools. In 2018, the school was rated as the 2015-2017 Safe and Civilized Campus in Guangdong Province.
The main campus of the school is located in Panyu District, Guangzhou, adjacent to the Guangzhou Asian Games City. The campus has a quiet and elegant environment, excellent school conditions and complete teaching facilities. The school has 126 professional training rooms, 12 "school-in-plants", 16 training bases, 172 training bases outside the school, and the library has more than 500,000 books. The school currently has more than 6,000 students. It has five full-time colleges including the School of Applied Design, the School of Management, the School of Economics and Trade, the School of Culture and Art, and the School of Applied Foreign Languages (School of International Exchange). The College of Continuing Education, the College of Entrepreneurship, and three educational research centers (institutes) offer nearly 30 majors.
The school has a team of teachers with a reasonable professional, educational background, title, age structure, and strong teaching and research capabilities. There are more than 400 faculty members, including 228 full-time teachers; 153 part-time corporate teachers are employed. Among the full-time teachers in the school, 43% have senior professional titles, and 74% have obtained a master's degree or above. Each major has a group of young and strong teaching backbones and academic leaders, and hires outside experts, entrepreneurs and professionals with rich practical experience in the industry to serve as members of the professional steering committee. The school has also established friendly cooperative relations with many universities and women's organizations in Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, the United States, Germany, Australia and other countries, and has cooperated with many well-known universities in Guangdong Province to hold undergraduate classes.
The school’s fundamental mission is to "cultivating people with morality", with the goal of cultivating innovative female professionals with high moral character, elegance, and high-tech skills, giving full play to gender advantages, creating a women’s school brand, and forming a higher vocational education centered on women. Vigorously develop a multi-form school-running pattern of women's cadre education, women's skills training, women's innovation and entrepreneurship education, and serving women's lifelong education. Graduates are favored by employers, and the employment rate has remained above 98% over the years. An independent survey by a third-party institution shows that graduates’ satisfaction with their alma mater is more than 98%, which is much higher than the average level of similar institutions in the country.
