Guangdong Water Conservancy and Electric Power Vocational and Technical College

Guangdong Vocational and Technical College of Water Conservancy and Electricity was established in 1952. It is the only public full-time higher vocational college in Guangdong Province that mainly specializes in water conservancy and electric power. In 2015, the school was rated as the 4th National Civilized Unit by the Central Civilization Committee.


The school is a national (demonstration) backbone higher vocational college, a first-class higher vocational college project construction unit in Guangdong Province, the first batch of national water conservancy vocational education demonstration colleges of the Ministry of Water Resources, a Guangdong innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration school, and a top 50 national college employment work demonstration Unit, Ministry of Education "Excellent Unit for Talent Cultivation in Higher Vocational Colleges", Vice Chairman Unit of the Second Council of China Water Conservancy Vocational Education Group, has been awarded the title of "Advanced Unit of Vocational Education" by Guangdong Province many times.


The school is composed of Guangzhou Tianhe Campus, Guangzhou Conghua Campus, Feilaixia Teaching and Training Base, Jiangwan Practice Power Station, etc. It covers an area of about 1,100 acres, with a total construction area of 340,000 square meters, 160 on-campus experiment and training bases, and off-campus experiments. There are 268 training bases. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 107 million yuan. There are currently more than 14,000 full-time students and 790 faculty members, including 258 teachers with senior professional titles, 1 State Council subsidy expert, 1 second-level professor, 32 professors, 59 doctors, and 422 masters. "Double teacher quality" Teachers account for 88.72% of full-time professional teachers. There are ten secondary schools including the School of Water Conservancy Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Architecture and Environmental Engineering, the Department of Municipal Engineering, the Department of Automation Engineering, the Department of Computer Information Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, and the Department of Applied Foreign Languages (Department) and the three teaching departments of Marxism College, Mathematics, and Physical Education, set up 46 full-time higher vocational majors such as water conservancy and hydropower construction engineering, power plant equipment operation and maintenance, and cooperated with Guangdong Jiaying University and Guangdong Petrochemical Institute to open civil engineering (Basic engineering technology direction), CNC equipment application and maintenance, and other two undergraduate majors, newly added to carry out the "4+0" collaborative education pilot with Dongguan University of Technology; cooperate with Australia to cultivate architectural engineering technology, architectural design technology and application College and undergraduate students with double diplomas in English (hotels and conventions). The school has signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with 357 domestic enterprises; it has carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation with the United States, Canada, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan and other countries and regions. The employment rate of graduates in the past three years has exceeded 99%.


The school has the Ministry of Water Resources "National Water Conservancy Industry Designated Training Institution", the Ministry of Labor and Social Security "Water Conservancy Industry Special Occupation Skill Appraisal Station", and "National Computer Information High-tech Examination Station". One of the academies of the “Industry Skilled Personnel Training Project”, it is also the “High-skilled Personnel Training Base” and “Guangdong Province Special Operator Safety Technical Training Institution”; approved by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Labor and Social Security in 2006 The "Occupational Skills Laboratory" was established. In 2014, the Education Department and the Water Resources Department approved the establishment of the "Guangdong Water Resources Talent Education Base".
