Guangdong Vocational and Technical College of Water Conservancy and Electricity was established in 1952. It is the only public full-time higher vocational college in Guangdong Province that mainly specializes in water conservancy and electric power. In 2015, the school was rated as the 4th National Civilized Unit by the Central Civilization Committee.

The school is composed of Guangzhou Tianhe Campus, Guangzhou Conghua Campus, Feilaixia Teaching and Training Base, Jiangwan Practice Power Station, etc. It covers an area of about 1,100 acres, with a total construction area of 340,000 square meters, 160 on-campus experiment and training bases, and off-campus experiments. There are 268 training bases. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 107 million yuan.
