Guangzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College

Guangzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College was established in June 2000, and was transferred to the Guangzhou Municipal Government in September 2004 by Guangzhou Railway (Group) Company. It is the only full-time system in Guangdong Province that trains specialized professionals in rail transit and railways. Ordinary higher vocational colleges, passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance in February 2016, and became the backbone higher vocational colleges of the "National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College Construction Plan". In November 2016, the project was approved as a first-class higher vocational college in Guangdong Province Construction unit.


   College is located in the "Shimen Fanzhao" scenic area, one of the eight scenic spots in the original Yangcheng, Guangzhou. It has multiple campuses including Shimen, Yangcheng, Zhixin South Campus, Chaoyang Training Center, and Huadu Engineering and Learning Demonstration Park. The college covers an area of 314.86 acres of land, and the school building covers an area of more than 160,000 square meters. There are now 7687 full-time general higher vocational students, and there are 9 schools including the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Transportation and Logistics, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Foreign Language Business, the School of Rolling Stock, the Department of Basic Courses, the School of Marxism, and the School of Continuing Education. According to the construction ideas, 34 majors including urban rail transit vehicle technology, railway power supply technology, urban rail transit operation management, numerical control technology, computer application technology, and business English have been established, and a professional steering committee has been established correspondingly with the participation of well-known experts from industry enterprises.


   The college has excellent conditions for running schools and complete infrastructure. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 203 million yuan, the paper collection is 558,900 volumes, and the electronic collection is 980,000 volumes; among the full-time teachers, senior titles account for 31.76%, and "dual-teacher" teachers account for 91.39%. In addition, a large number of professionals have been hired from enterprises. Technical personnel and skilled craftsmen serve as part-time teachers and internship instructors.   The college recruits students from 19 provinces (regions) including Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Sichuan, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Shanxi, Henan, Anhui, Yunnan, Guizhou, Qinghai, Hainan, Hebei, and Zhejiang. More than 99% of graduates obtained relevant vocational qualification certificates, and 26.9% obtained advanced certificates. The initial employment rate of graduates is more than 98%, and the professional counterpart rate and salary level of graduates rank among the best in similar colleges and universities. In recent years, the college has been awarded as "Guangdong Province General College Graduate Employment Advanced Collective" and "2014 National Vocational College Employment Competitiveness Demonstration School" due to its outstanding achievements and distinctive characteristics in the employment of graduates in recent years.
