Guangzhou Maritime College is a public general undergraduate college and the only independent maritime undergraduate college in South China. Its predecessor was the Guangzhou Maritime School established in 1964 by the Guangzhou Maritime Administration of the Ministry of Communications. It was approved by the Ministry of Communications in 1981.
