Zhongkai College of Agricultural Engineering is a provincial undergraduate university with advantages in agronomy, engineering, and management disciplines, and a coordinated development of agronomy, engineering, science, economics, management, literature, art, and law. The school was formerly known as Zhongkai Agricultural and Industrial School. It was established during the first KMT-CPC cooperation period. It was proposed by Mr. He Xiangning, a pioneer of modern democratic revolution, and the Kuomintang Central Committee decided to establish it in memory of Mr. Liao Zhongkai’s willingness to cherish agricultural workers. The school enrolled students in 1927, and Mr. He Xiangning was the first principal for 15 years. In 1984, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate college, named "Zhongkai College of Agriculture and Technology", and State Vice President Wang Zhen wrote the name of the school. In March 2008, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed "Zhongkai College of Agricultural Engineering".
In order to win support from all walks of life in running schools and promote school development, in April 1987, according to the proposal of Vice President Wang Zhen, and with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the school board was established. Wang Zhen was appointed honorary chairman and Ye Xuanping, governor of Guangdong Province, served as the first term. Chairman of the Board of Directors. Currently, the school has Baiyun campus, Haizhu campus and Zhongcun practice farm. The school was awarded the right to confer a master's degree in 2006, and was rated as an excellent school for undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education in January 2009.
