Jiaying College is a provincial public general undergraduate college. Its predecessor was Meixian County Women's Normal School founded in 1913. It has 105 years of school history, 65 years of secondary school, 22 years of junior college, and 17 years. Undergraduate education. The school is located in the hometown of Marshal Ye Jianying, a famous historical and cultural city in China, the main settlement of Hakkas, an excellent tourist city in China, one of the top ten most secure cities in the country, a famous cultural hometown, hometown of overseas Chinese, and hometown of football-Guangdong Province Meizhou City. Meizhou was called Jiaying Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty, from which Jiaying College got its name.
The school covers an area of 1,085,500 square meters, with a school building area of 620,100 square meters; the total value of teaching equipment is 205 million yuan; a collection of 2.338 million books, 1.0718 million e-books, and 2,448 types of paper periodicals. There are 1,726 faculty members, 142 full-time teachers with senior professional titles and 1,257 full-time teachers, including 130 with senior professional titles, 335 associate senior titles, 161 doctors and 710 masters. Inviting famous domestic and foreign experts and scholars such as Qiu Chengtong, Ikeda Daisaku, Pan Yugang, Pan Maoyuan, Wang Fosong, Chen Zhijie as visiting professors or honorary professors. There are 25,443 regular full-time students and 14,847 adult students from 18 provinces (cities, districts). There are currently 20 secondary colleges, 1 public teaching department, and 59 undergraduate majors, covering 11 disciplines including literature, science, engineering, law, and medicine.
The school adheres to the school-running tenet of "based on Meizhou, facing the grassroots, serving Guangdong, radiating the whole country, and extending overseas", and establishes the school-running philosophy of "education-oriented, service-oriented, and characteristic as the soul". Form a multi-level and multi-type modern school running system with undergraduate education as the main body, high vocational education, international student education, adult education, etc., and cultivate applied talents with innovative spirit and practical ability to meet the needs of local economic and social development.
The school has a distinctive school-running characteristic of "rooting in the hometown of overseas Chinese, serving the locality, and promoting Hakka culture". Since the school was run, it has received donations of more than 200 million yuan from local and alumni such as Zeng Xianzi and Tian Jiabing. Established the Hakka Research Institute, which is listed as the key research base of humanities and social sciences in ordinary universities in Guangdong Province and the Guangdong Province Hakka research base; the first Hakka academy in mainland China was established, and the education of excellent Hakka culture and tradition runs through the whole process of talent training.
At present, the school follows the "application service-oriented" orientation of running a school, taking important opportunities such as promoting the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and the Meizhou Municipal People's Government to jointly build Jiaying College and speeding up the transformation of Jiaying College and other important opportunities, and actively implement the "13th Five-Year Plan" Development plan, strive to run excellent undergraduate education of application service type, and initially establish a well-known domestic university with characteristics.
