Foshan University of Science and Technology is a full-time public undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. The college is located in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, a national historical and cultural city, a national advanced manufacturing base, and an important node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The college originated from Foshan Teachers College and Foshan Branch of South China Agricultural College, which were founded in 1958. Afterwards, Foshan Teachers College was renamed Foshan Teachers College. In February 1986, Foshan University was established on the basis of Foshan Teachers College, and the Foshan Branch of South China Agricultural College was successively renamed Foshan Veterinary College and Foshan Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College. In March 1995, Foshan University and Foshan Agricultural and Animal Husbandry College merged to form Foshan Institute of Science and Technology, which was upgraded to an undergraduate level. In February 2005, Foshan Medical College for Staff and Workers and Foshan Institute of Education were merged into Foshan Institute of Science and Technology. Obtained excellent results in the 2007 evaluation of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education. In 2013, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a master's degree granting unit. In September 2015, the college was included in the first batch of high-level universities of science and technology in Guangdong Province.
