South China Normal University was founded in 1933, and its predecessor was the Teachers College of Guangdong Mengqin University. In 1996, it entered the ranks of the national "211 Project" key construction universities. In 2015, it became a university jointly established by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Education.
