Gansu Medical College is a full-time general undergraduate medical college with a long history of running a school and an excellent tradition of running a school. Its predecessor was the Pingliang Regional Health School of Gansu Province, which was founded in 1958. It was upgraded to Pingliang Medical College in 2003. Approved by the Ministry of Education to be upgraded to an undergraduate medical college.
The college is located in the most beautiful mountain of Taoism in the world-the eastern foot of Kongtong Mountain, on the riverside of Jingshui River. It covers an area of 805 acres, with a construction area of 221,500 square meters, and fixed assets of 553 million yuan. There are currently 28 party, government, teaching and scientific research institutions. There are 443 full-time teachers in the college, including 62 with senior professional titles, 213 with deputy senior titles, 10 doctors and 150 masters. The college now offers six undergraduate majors in clinical medicine, nursing, medical laboratory technology, pharmacy, Chinese pharmacy, and rehabilitation therapy, as well as clinical medicine, stomatology, nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, medical inspection technology, health inspection and quarantine technology, and Chinese medicine. The college currently has 2 directly affiliated hospitals, of which the Affiliated Hospital of Gansu Medical College (formerly Pingliang City People’s Hospital) is a tertiary first-class hospital, and the second affiliated hospital (formerly Pingliang City Second People’s Hospital) is a third-tier second-class hospital. It also has 10 non-directly affiliated hospitals and 80 teaching and practice bases inside and outside the province, including the Lanzhou Army General Hospital, the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, and the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University.
