Fujian Vocational College of Art

Fujian Vocational College of the Arts is a public full-time higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Fujian Province and registered by the Ministry of Education. Established in 1958, the school has a long history of running a school and a profound cultural heritage. It is known as the "cradle of artistic talents". In 2013, it was awarded the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Talent Training Base" by the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Center. In 2015, it was designated by the Ministry of Culture as the Fujian Province "Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Group Training and Training" college.

   One, school conditions and scale


The school headquarters is located in Fuzhou, a famous historical and cultural city known as the "Seaside Zoulu" and the capital city of Fujian Province-Fuzhou. It is located in a scenic cultural tourism and film and television media town, adjacent to the Minjiang River, with rich culture, elegant environment and convenient transportation. With a profound cultural background, it is an ideal place for studying. The campus covers an area of about 200 acres, with a total construction area of about 70,000 square meters. It has various professional teaching buildings, comprehensive theaters, concert halls, dance exhibition halls, art exhibition halls, studios, libraries, 400-meter plastic track and field stadiums, and indoor gymnasiums. There are more than 20 professional training rooms such as music creation and MIDI production room, guqin training room, studio and recording training room, etc. teaching facilities, such as swimming pool. The Art Branch of Fujian Library is located in our school, with a collection of more than 200,000 books and materials.


   There are seven secondary teaching units in the main department of the school, including the Music Department, the Fine Arts Department, the Dance Department, the Social Culture Department, the Fashion Design Department, the Public Teaching Department, and the Ideological and Political Department. There are also 12 branch schools (classes) throughout the province. There are music performances, dance performances, interior art design, packaging art design, arts and crafts design (lacquer art direction), ceramics design and crafts, clothing and apparel design, public cultural services and management, tea art and tea marketing, broadcasting and hosting 16 higher vocational (specialty) majors, including film and television choreography, art design, fine arts, stage design and production, opera performance, and performing arts, including 4 provincial-level demonstration majors in Fujian, 2 modern apprenticeship pilot majors, "dual system" "There are 2 majors in the pilot project of the reform of the training model of technical and skilled personnel.    2. Professional construction results


   Since its promotion to a higher vocational school in 2005, the school has insisted on striving for survival by quality and development by characteristics. While steadily expanding the number of majors, it has strengthened and refined its majors, and has achieved good results in professional construction.


From 2007 to 2009, 7 courses including color, sight singing and ear training, Fujian folk dance, dance art practice, wood pipe, vocal performance, and Chinese classical dance were rated as "provincial quality courses"; music performance major was selected as "provincial level" The fine specialty"; the dance performance specialty was selected as the "provincial fine specialty".


   In 2010, the teaching reform project of “Using the Experimental Art Troupe as the Carrier to Build a Comprehensive Practice Teaching Platform for Higher Vocational Art Education” was included in the “Fujian Province Medium and Long-term Education Reform Pilot Project”.


From 2012 to 2013, the majors of music performance and dance performance were included in the "Project for Improving the Development Capacity of Professional Service Industry" supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance; the performing arts training base was included in the "Project supported by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education and the Department of Finance" "Higher Vocational Education Training Base Construction Project"; dance major was included in the Fujian Province "Application-oriented Undergraduate Talent Training Pilot Project".


In 2013, the first "intangible cultural heritage talent training base" of the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center settled in our school; the dance performance major was rated by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, and the National Civil Affairs Commission as the "first batch of 100 ethnic groups in national vocational colleges" "Cultural inheritance and innovation demonstration specialty"; three majors of music performance, art design, and dance performance were rated as "provincial demonstration majors"; 7 textbooks of the "National Art Vocational Education Series" hosted by the China Art Vocational Education Association Qualifications as editor-in-chief; undertook the country’s first drafting meeting on the development plan for opera education since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.


   In 2014, the two teaching achievements won the first and second prizes of Fujian Higher Vocational Education Teaching Achievement respectively; the tea culture major was selected as Fujian Province's "Higher Vocational Education Demonstration Major".


From 2015 to 2016, fine arts (wood carving direction), tea art and tea marketing majors were included in the modern apprenticeship pilot project; fine arts (ceramic art design), tea art and tea marketing majors were approved as the pilot majors of innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in colleges and universities in Fujian Province; Performing arts, fine arts (wood carving direction) majors are included in the "dual system" technical skills talent training model reform pilot project majors.


   3. Teacher team building


The school has gathered a group of art educators with rich experience.    School graduates are widely welcomed by employers. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates of various majors has been above 97%. In 2013, our school students participated in the National Vocational Skills Competition and won 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, and 4 third prizes; participated in the Fujian Vocational Skills Competition and won 6 first prizes and 7 second prizes , 5 third prizes.
