Fujian Health Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time general higher education institution approved by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. It mainly trains nursing, pharmacy, medical technology, clinical medicine, and health management technical skills-based medical and health personnel, 2005 It was formed by the merger of Fujian Health School and Fuzhou Health School in 2006, and is under the jurisdiction of the Fujian Provincial Department of Education. The predecessor of the college was the nursing school attached to Fuzhou Magao’ai Hospital founded in 1912. It was one of the first registered nursing schools in China. The college opened the pharmacy and medical laboratory specialty in 1954. It was the earliest training base for pharmacy and medical laboratory talents in Fujian Province. In 1986, it was the first to open the medical imaging specialty among medical and health colleges in the province. In 2008, the college passed the evaluation of the level of talent training in higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education with the rank of "excellent". In July 2016, it was officially designated as a "Fujian Demonstrative Higher Vocational College" by the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and the Provincial Department of Finance. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, it was designated by the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Department of Finance as the A-type cultivation college for the construction project of Fujian Province's exemplary modern vocational colleges for three consecutive years.
There are 24 institutions in the college, including 12 party and government management institutions, 7 teaching institutions, and 5 teaching auxiliary institutions. There are 526 faculty members, including 379 full-time teachers, 132 professors and associate professors, and 12 doctors. There are 3 provincial-level teaching teams and 3 provincial-level teaching teachers. There are currently 23 majors, covering medicine and medicine-related majors, forming 5 professional groups in medicine, medicine, nursing, technology, and management. There are 173 off-campus practice bases, including 1 directly affiliated hospital, 5 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 19 teaching hospitals.
The college is the only higher vocational college undertaking the reform of the modern university system in Fujian Province. It innovates the cooperative construction model of "government-led, industry guidance, enterprise participation, and school main body", and cooperates with industry departments, leading hospitals, and well-known enterprises. The school has established 11 factory lieutenant schools, organized a group of school-enterprise cooperation classes, and cooperated with Fuzhou Southeast Eye Hospital, Fuzhou Tongchun Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd., and Fujian Cancer Hospital to hold ophthalmology, traditional Chinese medicine, and medical imaging technology (radiation therapy). The college pays attention to applied scientific research and higher vocational education research, and establishes the collaborative innovation center of modern health care product R&D and application technology, the biomedicine Fujian university applied technology engineering center, the effective component analysis and biological activity evaluation research laboratory of Fujian traditional Chinese medicine, and the continuing nursing Fujian Provincial University Applied Liberal Arts Research Center. In recent years, it has been committed to the development of application projects such as the raw materials and capsule preparations of vorinostat, a new national class 3 drug, and Yangxin Cao Anshen capsules. Higher vocational education research has achieved national and provincial results, won 1 second prize for national teaching achievements, 1 second prize for teaching achievements by the National Health Commission, 1 special prize for teaching achievements in Fujian Province, and 3 first prizes , 3 second prizes.
The college takes the initiative to serve regional economic and social development, and provides adult education and education training services. The college continues to expand educational exchanges and cooperation.
