Fujian Electric Power Vocational and Technical College is a public higher vocational college approved by the Fujian Provincial People's Government.
The predecessor of Fujian Electric Power Vocational Technical College was Quanzhou Electric Power School, a key secondary school under the Ministry of Water and Electricity, founded in April 1984. In 2003, the college was upgraded and established to carry out full-time tertiary education and various forms of non-academic education. The business is jointly managed by the Provincial Electric Power Company and the Provincial Department of Education. There are now 10 power-related majors in power plants and power systems, power supply technology, high-voltage transmission and distribution lines construction, operation and maintenance, and power system automation technology, which are enrolled nationwide.
The college is located in Quanzhou, the "Cultural Capital of East Asia". It has 2 campuses (Fengze campus, Luojiang campus) and 2 training bases (Qingyuan base, Lefeng base), and is known as a "garden campus" , Has been awarded the titles of "Provincial Green Unit", "Safe Campus", etc., and won the honor of "Civilized School" (Civilized Campus) in Fujian Province for ten consecutive times.
The college gives full play to the industry's advantages in running schools, and has built production training facilities covering eight major categories of power grid construction that are close to the actual production and even advanced, which are used for student training and employee training. In March 2021, it was awarded the national high-skilled personnel training base. The college currently has 64 on-campus training bases; it has 1 national-level backbone major, 1 national-level productive training base, 2 central financial support training bases, 2 central financial support majors, power plants and power systems, etc. 5 provincial-level demonstration majors, 3 provincial-level quality majors such as power supply technology, 8 provincial-level vocational education key projects such as the power plant thermal energy and power major, 1 national teaching achievement, 7 provincial teaching achievement awards, provincial level 13 fine courses. In recent years, students have participated in various competitions and won 292 awards above the provincial level.
"Strengthening virtues and seeking to innovate" is the school motto of the college. For a long time, the college has adhered to the simultaneous cultivation of morals and skills, deepened school-enterprise cooperation, actively introduced enterprises to teach, and accurately cultivated professional and practical "blue-collar craftsmen". Promote training modes such as "dual system", order-based, and targeted recruitment, expand the talent training platform, and guide companies to participate in the college's talent training. Incorporate new knowledge, new technology, and new technology into the teaching content, pay close attention to the quality of training in accordance with the standardization of production site operations, and improve students' skills and professionalism. Fully implement the "dual certificate" system, practice class hours accounted for 59%, strengthen the practice of students' skills, and use professional job competence level 1 as the graduation skill certificate standard, and the graduation rate of graduates with dual certificates reaches 100%. In the past three years, the college graduates’ employment professional counterpart rate was 80.15%, and the graduates’ job satisfaction reached 94.19%.
Since its establishment in 1984, the college has trained 26,000 talents for the society, made positive contributions to the electric power industry and local economic and social development, and has accumulated excellent school-running traditions and rich school-running experience.
